SISTER EVA BAKER
Funeral Services for Sister Eva Baker, affectionately known as “Granny” who passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, will be held at 11 a. m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Peace Progressive Mis- sionary Baptist Church, 2607 E. 24th Avenue, Tampa, Florida, Bishop Sylvester Robinson, Pas- tor, officiating and Rev. Albert Calloway, Jr. eulogist. Interment will follow at Garden of Memo- ries Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, Florida.
Sister Eva Williams Baker, age 97, was an affectionate mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great- great-grand- mother, sister, godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, who ab- solutely loved and adored her family and friends.
She was born six of eleven siblings to Profite (Goldie) and Mary Alice Powell Williams in Eufaula, Alabama.
She confessed Christ at an early age at her family’s home church, Sandville Baptist Church, in Eufaula, Alabama.
Eva was joined in holy matri- mony to Giney Baker June 3, 1941. To this union, five children were born, however, she was a mother to six. After moving to Florida, she became a faithful member of Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Women’s Mission, Choir #2, and Usher Board #2.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Profite and Mary Alice Powell Williams; husband, Giney Baker Sr.; Son, Giney Baker, Jr.; daughter, Ida Jane Calloway, and nine siblings.
Sister Baker leaves to cherish memories of her with: children, Cassie Ford (Ulysses), James L Baker (Rose), Beatrice Mitchell (Ronald) and Robert Baker (Zan- dra); grandchildren, Diane Tay- lor (Jerome), Keyla Watkins (Jamie), Ronnie Calloway (Dei- dra), Albert Calloway (Latoya), Trudent Wheeler (David), Brenda Kemp (Willie), Nathaniel Baker (Francine), Reginald Jamieson, Natasha Wilson (Alonzo), James Moore, James Baker, Jr., Michelle Baker, Shaquavia Baker, Jeannie (Cedric) Sanders, Carlos Baker, Nancy Baker, Charla Lee, Shayla Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell, II, Diana Baker Lewis, Christina Baker and Kenya Baker; a host of great and great-great grandchil- dren; her sister, Louise Mills (MC); nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a viewing at Wil- son Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street Tampa, Florida on Friday, July 27, 2018, from 5 p. m. until 8 p.m.
Friends are asked to assem- ble at the church on Saturday at approximately 10:45 a. m.

DEACONESS MATTIE MAE ERVIN
A Celebration of Life and Serv- ice for Deaconess Mattie Mae Ervin, who passed on July 23, 2018, will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2 p. m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida with Dr. S. Evan Burrows, Senior Pastor officiating. Inter- ment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Ervin was preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. Sam Ervin (Estella Brown Ervin) and sister, Lila Joyce Ervin McCardy; niece, Sandra Y. Ervin; nephew, Herbert L. Ervin; uncles, L. N. Brown and his wife, Josephine, Clyde Ervin, Sr., William Brown and aunt, Olivia Smith.
She leaves to mourn her pass- ing: brothers, Samuel Ervin, Jr. (Esther) and Herbert Ervin, both of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Lee Etta Ervin Love of Columbia, SC; niece, Torya McCardy Powell of Marlboro, MD, Cynthia Y. Ervin and Yolanda M. Ervin; nephews, Lt. Col. Retired Robert Love, Jr. (Julie) of Alexandra, VA, and Rod- ney Love (Pilani) of Columbia, SC; cousins, Letha Harris and family, Clyde Ervin, Jr. and family, both of Havana, FL; Attorney Geraldine Williams Shaw, Nadine Williams Brown of Tampa, FL; the surviv- ing families of deceased cousins, Bessie Manuel, Mattie Grice, and Mamie Jones of Havana and Tal- lahassee, FL; a devoted and loving goddaughter, Martha Joyner and husband Samuel Joyner; close friends, Margie Nickerson, Harold (Linda) Simpson, Gary Cassell and her First Baptist Church of College Hill family and other relatives and friends.
Deaconess Mattie Mae Ervin was born on June 7, 1925 in Ams- terdam, Georgia to the parentage of Rev. Sam Ervin and Estella Brown Ervin. She was a resident of Tampa since she was five months old.
She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School, Class of 1943. She later attended Illinois School of Nursing in Chicago, IL and Or- ange Blossom School of Nursing in Tampa, FL.
Ms. Ervin was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lily White Hospital. She transferred to Clara Frye Hospital and later to Tampa General Hospital from where she retired.
Deaconess Ervin was a de- voted member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, where she has served as Head of the Kitchen Ministry and she also served faith- fully as a Deaconess. She was also an honoree in 2007 for the Cele- brating our Heritage Senior Women program.
There will be a viewing on Fri- day, July 27, 2018 at Wilson Fu- neral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 5 – 8 p. m.
Friends are asked to assemble at the church at approximately 1:45 p. m. on Saturday.

MS. AZZIE LEE POWELL
Ms. Azzie Lee Powell passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018. A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11 A. M. at Rivers of Life Church, 301 N. Lakewood Drive, Brandon, Florida, with Pastor Curtis A. Swafford, offi- ciating. Interment will follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gar- dens, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Lula Mae and Cherry Jones; son, Basil U. Powell, Jr.; brother-in- law, Adkins Brown, Sr.; cousin, Wesley Floyd, Sr.; cousin-in- law, Mark; brother, Raleigh Jones, Sr.
Ms. Powell leaves to mourn her passing with: daugh- ters, Darlene Powell Campbell, Lisa Powell-Cherry, (Willie James, Jr.) and Sharlene Eliza- beth Powell; son, Wilfred Keith Powell (Valada); grandchil- dren, Steven Powell, Sean Tyler Powell, Elton Campbell, III, Ebony Nicole White, Yancey Demetrius Sumes, Lernard Ulysses Sumes, Wilfred K. Pow- ell, Jr., and KeyAnn Powell; great-grandchildren, Essence and Jaron Powell, Isaiah Foot- man, Elton Campbell, IV, Na’Heem Baker and Desmond Rashaad Vance; devoted sister, Louise Brown and children of Tampa; brother, Curtis Powell and children (Bert) of Live Oak, Fl; niece, Ann Polite (Shorty) and children of Bartow, FL; six nieces of St. Petersburg, FL;
two nieces and three nephews of Atlanta, GA; cousins, Amer- icus and Leola, both of Tampa; loving cousins, Floyd family, special friend, Ruth Bryant and family of Tampa; daugh- ters-in-law, Ann Baker and Geraldine Powell of Tampa, Valerie Byrd and Gregory Gor- don of Orlando; and a host of other sorrowing friends and relatives, all of whom she had a special bond of love with.
Azzie Lee was born on Sep- tember 5, 1927 in Live Oak, Florida to the late Neila Benton and Henry Jackson. She ac- cepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended the public schools in Live Oak and St. Pe- tersburg, Florida.
As a young woman, Azzie later moved to Belle Glade, Florida where she met and married Mr. Basil Uriah Pow- ell of Jamaica, British West In- dies. Of this union, five children were born.
During their marriage Azzie relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts where she at- tended the local churches, and was employed by The Victoria Dress Shop, Sunshine Art Stu- dios and Pratt and Whitney Aerospace Technologies, Inc. She and her family later re- turned back to Florida.
Azzie was a faithful mem- ber of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church from 1968 until 2003 until her health issues prohibited regular attendance. While at Mt. Olive, she was a member of Women’s Choir #3, where she served in the capac- ity of Treasurer and she also taught Sunday classes to Sen- ior Women.
Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home from 5- 8 p. m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, 3000 N. 29th Street Tampa.
Friends are asked to as- semble at the church on Satur- day at approximately 10:45 a. m. for the service.
