Relocation Process Continues For North Boulevard Homes Residents
This is a rendering of what the new development will look like.
NORTH BOULEVARD HOMES
As the Tampa Housing Au- thority continues its venture for the demolition of North Boule- vard Homes complex, residents are still undergoing the reloca- tion process.
THA Spokesperson, Lillian Stringer, said to date they have spent $40,000 in reloca- tion costs.
“We have 811 families in re- location, and 307 of them have completed the required reloca- tion classes. Of that number, 72 have already moved, 120 have stated their preference to re- main in public housing, and 5 have moved into private homes.
“Also, 15 families have cho- sen projected-based Section 8 housing, like Encore.”
Mrs. Stringer said they have received favorable support during the process, and they have a report of comments from some of the families involved in the process.
The redevelopment of the North Boulevard Homes prop- erties is a part of the overall West Tampa Redevelopment Plan. That plan, along with THA’s proposed new dwellings, will create job opportunities and is hoped to draw the inter- est of potential businesses to open in the area.

TALLAHASSEE --- Aiming to attract and retain the best teachers for Florida’s schools, state Senator Darren Soto (D-Orlando) on Wednesday filed legislation boosting edu- cators’ starting salary to $50,000.
“For some time, we’ve been hearing many promises from the governor and legislative leaders about their commit- ment to increasing funding for education. This legislation lets them deliver on those prom- ises, starting with the teachers in our children’s classrooms,” said Senator Soto.
