Judge Dismisses Charges Against Sapp
On Monday, a judge in Phoenix, Arizona dismissed charges against Hall of Famer and former Tampa Bay Bucca- neer, Warren Sapp.
Sapp, already on probation for another charge was arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly beat- ing up his girlfriend.
Prosecutors had sought to have Sapp arrested, saying he had violated probation on the Las Vegas arrest.
However, a judge agreed that Sapp had completed the terms of his plea deal before the ar- rest in Las Vegas.
Under the plea deal, Sapp would have the solicitation and assault charges dismissed after he completed the necessary classes.
WARREN SAPP
Sapp’s attorney, Craig Mehrens, told the judge his client had completed the classes, and the charges were dismissed. That meant Sapp would not be facing any jail time.
LeBron James Gives 1st Official Look at Nike LeBron 13s on Slam Magazine Cover
After a flood of leaked images and a believed-to-be sighting, LeBron James finally gave fans the first official look at the long-awaited Nike LeBron 13 shoes on the latest cover of Slam.
The magazine features the shoe in "berry" and red color- ways, which are set to release on Oct. 10 and 24, respectively.
Marshawn Lynch’s Mom Says Offensive Coach Needs To Be Fired
The Seattle Seahawks bun- gled a chance to win on the road in St. Louis Sunday, falling in overtime to the Rams 34-31 after running back Mar- shawn Lynch was stuffed on a fourth-and-1 play to end the game. Faced with a situation reminiscent of the end of Super Bowl XLIX, the Seahawks actu- ally gave Lynch the ball in a do-or-die situation and Lynch failed to deliver — but the blame is hardly on him.
Rather than just call a stan- dard running play, the Sea- hawks opted for a gimmicky draw, forcing Lynch to receive the ball four yards behind the line of scrimmage. The Rams’ defensive line got a better push, and the game was over.
MARSHAWN LYNCH
After the game, Lynch’s mother Delisa defended her son on Facebook and called for Seahawks “offense caller” — presumably offensive coordi- nator Darrell Bevell — to be fired.
REGGIE BUSH
San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush has a strained calf, but the muscle is not torn.
Bush, who left the team's season-opening 20-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night with the injury after just two carries, was walk- ing around Tuesday without a limp, according to coach Jim Tomsula.
So if all checks out, might Bush, who had two rushes for eight yards against the Vikings, play on a short week at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday?
Jameis Winston Gets To Keep Defamation Claim Against Erica Kinsman
A federal judge has dis- missed one of Jameis Win- ston's counterclaims against Erica Kinsman and declined to dismiss another for defama- tion in an ongoing lawsuit stemming from the quarter- back's alleged rape of the for- mer Florida State student in 2012.
In a ruling issued Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Anne C. Conway denied Kinsman's motion to dismiss Winston's claim of defama- tion but granted one to dismiss his claim of tortious interfer- ence.
"(T)he Court rejects Mr.
JAMEIS WINSTON
Winston's argument that his tortious interference count is legally independent from his defamation claims," Conway wrote.

Former USF And NFL Star’s Hand Injury More Extensive Than Reported
Jason Pierre-Paul hasn’t played a down with the New York Giants yet this season, after injuring his hand while setting off fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend.
There have been all kinds of questions around the Pro Bowler. How bad is his injury? What’s up with his contract sit- uation? When will he return to the field this season? Will he return at all?
His injuries were more ex- tensive than previously be- lieved. ESPN reported on Tuesday that not only has the defensive end lost his entire right index finger, but also a portion of his right thumb as well.
The report also said that the former University of South Florida standout had a “proce- dure” to “close up” his right middle finger just days before he first met with the Giants medical staff on Labor Day. The wounds from that proce- dure still were unhealed, which was part of the reason Pierre- Paul was not given clearance to play despite his belief that he is ready to do so. Pierre-Paul took a step to quiet rumors and speculation about his condi-

tion, giving the world its first glimpse of his battered right hand in an Instagram video.
The Giants have not re- scinded the franchise tag they placed on Pierre-Paul in the offseason, originally a $14.8 million structure, but the amount of the tag dwindles by close to $1 million with each week of the season that passes. There is a deadline of Nov. 17 for him to sign the tender and play in 2015. If that does not happen, he will miss the entire year and become a free agent.
JUSTIN HUNTER
Tennessee Titans wide re- ceiver Justin Hunter was found not guilty on Tuesday of committing assault and battery in a crowded bar in his home- town during the July 4 week- end.
The charge stemmed from a brawl that began inside a bar in the Virginia Beach oceanfront tourist district.
Prosecutors said the fight led to a man's jaw being broken, though the victim said at trial it wasn't Hunter who landed the most serious blow against him.
Defense attorney Toby Vick said the only reason Hunter was singled out for charges is because he's an NFL player with deep pockets. The victim in the case doesn't have health insurance and has expensive medical bills to pay as a result of the fight
