MICHAEL REEVES
A Tampa man learned last Friday that he will serve 6 years and 9 months in a federal prison. The Court also entered a $25,206 money judgment against him, and ordered him to pay more than $1 million in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.
According to court docu- ments, Willie Streater, of Tampa, pleaded guilty to access device fraud, and aggravated identity theft on March 19, 2015.
Streater is a former employee of a shredding company.
The company he was employed by had a contract with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs to shred documents of patients vis- iting the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital.
Streater reportedly took the documents in- tended for shredding that contained personal identi- fying information of the veterans. He then sold the information to several in- dividuals who were in- volved in filing fraudulent federal income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.
