Tampa Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a 14-year-old who was at a park near his home.
On Sunday at 4:20 p. m., of- ficers received a 9-1-1 call that Edward Harris, IV was in- jured outside of Woodlawn Terrace Park on 30th Street and Diana.
Officers arrived and per- formed CPR on Harris until Tampa Fire rescue arrived. He was transported to a local hos- pital where he was pro- nounced dead.
Police spokesperson An- drea Davis said the incident was witnessed by a man who was jogging around the park. That man immediately went over and rendered CPR on Harris until police arrived.
“Right now, we’re looking for a vehicle that a witness said the shots were fired from. This was not a random act .
“Harris had been playing ball when the shooting oc- curred. Everyone else ran and left him on the ground after the shooting.”
Davis said the victim’s fa- ther, Edward Harris, Jr. had to be hospitalized when he got the news.
“From what we’ve deter- mined, he was a good kid try- ing to do the right thing.”
The State Attorney’s Office confirmed, Harris, IV was due to testify in court as a wit- ness in a case that began Mon- day against an 18-year-old who was arrested in January on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault with a pellet gun.
Records show that the sus- pect was released to the cus- tody of the Department of Juvenile Justice on February 5th.
A 20-year-old man was died early Monday in a single car ac- cident. The accident took place at Linebaugh Avenue, just north of Gretna Green Drive.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew McDonald, of Oldsmar, was traveling westbound on Linebaugh Avenue at a high rate of speed shortly before 2:30 a.m., Monday.
McDonald reportedly lost control of his vehicle attempt to make the right hand curve just west of Gretna Green Drive. His vehicle went into the median and struck a tree on the driver’s side.
The impact from the accident split McDonald’s vehicle in half, ejecting McDonald onto the median. He died at the scene.

EDWARD HARRIS, IV
Edward, IV’s father said his son’s mother passed No- vember 14, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She had been on dialysis, and was only 38 years old.
“That was an emotional ex- perience for him, and he had- n’t gotten over it.”
Mr. Harris said his son at- tended Greco Middle School and was looking forward to at- tending Hillsborough High School next school term.
“He was really excited and looking forward to attending big school.
“He really loved basketball, and spent all of his time on the court. We’ve been watching the NBA playoffs together on television.”
Harris, IV has two older brothers and a host of friends. His father said he’d been on the basketball court on-and- off throughout the day.
“We had received some threats, and he was shot at a couple of times before. It was all because of him saying he would testify in court,” his fa- ther said.”
Police released a photo of a vehicle that is believed to be the one the shots were fired from.
