 Applications Open For Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Program
   Application deadline extended to December 15, 2018
The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation is once again offering scholar- ships to deserving high school seniors who demon- strate not only academic ex- cellence, but a heart for service to the community and an understanding of Dr. King’s life and legacy.
Scholarship applications are available for download from the Foundation’s web- site www.mlkjrparade.com, by clicking “programs,” then “download scholarship appli- cation.”
“The application has been available for a few weeks, but the Foundation has received very few submissions thus far. The stated deadline for applications was November 15, 2018, but due to the low response to date, the Foun- dation is extending the dead- line to December 15, 2018,” Howard Harris, Vice Pres- ident of the Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. Parade Founda-

have their names associated with funding specific scholar- ships, as well as being able to stay in touch with the stu- dents they fund to help en- sure their continuing success at school. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the 2019 Gala to be held Thurs- day, January 10, 2019, at TPepin’s Hospitality Centre, 4121 N. 50th Street, Tampa, FL 33610.

Tampa Student Honored During Tuskegee’s Scholarship Convocation
     Ms. Levirice Hall, Alonso High School graduate, Tampa, and Tuskegee University Junior, was honored as a University Scholar for her academic achievement during Tuskegee Uni- versity’s 93rd Annual Scholarship Convocation, Oct. 11, 2018.     Free Professional Grant Workshops Planned
 The Center for Non-Profit and Community Develop- ment, Inc., will host two free professional workshops this month.
On Friday, November 23rd, the topic of the first workshop, which will begin at 1 p.m., is: “How to start a 501 c3 nonprofit.”
During the second half of the program, the topic will be “Free Professional Grant Writing Workshop.”
It will be held at the Robert W. Saunders Public Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Avenue, 33602-2849, and will conclude at 3:30 p.m.
The first portion of the workshop will cover the main topic. Beginning at 2 p.m., those in attendance will dis- cuss “Free Professional Grant Writing Work- shop.”
The second workshop will take place on Sunday, No- vember 25th, from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. It will also be held at the Robert W. Saunders Public Library.

What funders consider when funding an organiza- tion; and How to prepare a grant proposal.

        Winter Village At Curtis Hixon Park Kicked Off The Holiday Season Friday
 Tampa Downtown Partnership officially kicked off the holiday season on November 16 with the opening of Winter Village at Cur- tis Hixon Park presented by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Downtown Tampa’s only outdoor ice rink welcomed families and friends to share in this holiday tradition along the Tampa Riverwalk and Hillsborough River as Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park was transformed with the sights, sounds, and activities of the holidays for children and adults of all ages.
During its seven week installation, Win- ter Village will feature 10 boutiques from local craftspeople and purveyors as well as specialty drinks and treats to complement the 5,000 square feet of real ice.
New this season, the Tampa Downtown Partnership is introducing a 360-degree choreographed light display that pairs with your favorite holiday sounds creating a hol- iday experience like no other. The Partner-
ship is also bringing a bit of the beach to Downtown Tampa with a holiday sand sculpture crafted by local artists Sandtastic, who are featured in the Clearwater Beach Sugar Sand Festival.
Tampa Theatre will present “The Santa Clause” after Tampa’s Tree Lighting Cere- mony presented by Friends of Tampa Recre- ation on Friday, November 30.
Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park is also the site of Tampaâ€TMs Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 30, Santa Fest on December 2, Winter Wonder Ride presented on bikes on December 8, a viewing spot for the Lighted Boat Parade on December 22, and many more holiday experiences.
