Woman Killed By Hit And Run Driver
Deputies Pull 82-Year-Old Woman From Sinking Vehicle
Owner, Driver Charged In Fatal Accident
A 46-year-old woman was killed as she walked on Black Dairy Road. The accident took place around 11:30 p.m., Friday.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Ms. Linda Kay Fisher, of Seffner, was walking along the road when she was struck by an unknown driver, just north of Russell Drive. Her body was discovered in the
ditch on the east side of the road early Saturday morning. The unidentified driver fled the scene after the acci-
dent.
Evidence at the scene in-
dicates that the vehicle could be red or orange in color.

Last Friday, two Hills- borough County deputies rescued an elderly woman from a sinking vehicle. The 82-year-old victim was transported to a local hospi- tal.
Deputies were called to a single-car traffic accident at the intersection of Alexander Road, North and Paul Buch- man Highway, in Plant City around 5 p.m.

The deputies went into
the water and began remov- ing Ms. Leona Evans as the vehicle continued to sink.
During the rescue, Deputy Thompson suf- fered several lacerations to his face and arms from a bro- ken window. He was treated and released by the Hillsbor- ough County Fire Rescue. Both deputies have returned to full duty.
Emergency personnel transported Ms. Evans to Lakeland Regional Hospital as a trauma alert. She is listed in serious condition.
Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the scene and conducted the traffic crash investigation.
The owner of the vehicle involved and the driver of it were both charged in a fatal accident.
The accident took place at approximately 5 p.m., last Thursday.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Dewey, 56, of Brandon, was driving his 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan Mo- torcycle on State Road 60 when he was struck by a 2008 Saturn Vue.
Dewey was transported to a local hospital. He died Friday as a result of his in-
juries.
During the course of the
ongoing investigation, detec- tives learned that 28-year- old James Chavez was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. He was taken into custody and charged with failing to yield to the right of way of the mo- torcycle and driving with the knowledge that his license was suspended.
Ms. Amy Celeste Rum- ball, 39, of Brandon was charged with allowing a per- son she knew was unlicensed to drive her vehicle.

A 19-year-old Land O’Lakes man was killed in a traffic accident early Sunday. The accident occurred at I- 275 and M. L. King, Jr., Blvd.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Justin Martinez-Sanchez was standing or crossing north- bound I-275 for unknown reasons. He crossed directly into the path of a 2011 Audi A4.

died at the scene as a result of his injuries. After the acci- dent, the unidentified driver
of the vehicle fled the scene and went to a gas station along U. S. Highway 92, where the occupants called police.
According to the occu- pants of the vehicle, identi- fied as Nathanael Huitt, 26, and Austin Schulz, 27, both of Tampa, an unknown white male known as Chris was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. He fled from the gas station on foot.
Charges are pending and the investigation is continu- ing.
Bicyclist Killed By Hit And Run Driver
A 51-year-old man died Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Dionicio Rodriguez, of Dover, was riding his bicycle on Sydney Washer Road near the intersection of Fietzway Road. At approximately 6:35 p.m., an unknown vehicle struck him. Mr. Rodriguez died at the scene.
Police said a mirror from a 1990s Dodge truck or van was left at the scene.
