Members Of Jazzy Seniors Celebrate Quarterly Birthdays
  Four times a year, members of the Jazzy Seniors celebrate the birthdays of their members that oc- curred during that quarter. Recently, the members gathered to wish happy birthdays to individuals born during the months of July, August, and September. The celebration was held at Ragan Park community Center.
Some of those attending the birthday celebration and participating in the festivities shown in front were: Cleo Stinyard and Irene Newberry. Members shown in the middle from left to right were: Percy Everett, Lavern Hooper, Betty Bowden, Carolyn Brooks, Elaine Johnson, Sylvia Kendrick and Kathrine Palmer. Members shown on the back row from left to right were: Connie Bowen, Bertha Vickers, Sandra Flowers, Gladys Foster, Carolyn Williams and Sundy Reese.

 Free 8-Week Diabetes Classes Being Offered
The Senior Connection Center, (SCC), is offering a FREE 8- week diabetes class for seniors with Type II diabetes. Partici- pants will receive weekly customized education for managing diabetes, nutrition counseling from a registered dietitian, ac- cess to tai chi classes, the Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book that is used as a resource text for the class, and a relaxation CD for the mind and body.
Classes will be held at Senior Connection Center, 8928 Brit- tany Way, Tampa, FL 33619. The 8-week series starts on De- cember 7th, 2017 and will meet every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until January 25th, 2018.
Participants are highly encouraged to attend every class to achieve the best results.
Refreshments will be provided. Class size is limited and reg- istration is required. Anyone interested in participating in this program should register by contacting Jamie Baker- Douglin at (813) 676-5566 or via email at Jamie.Baker- Douglin@sccmail.org.
Each weekly class focuses on a different aspect of managing diabetes. Topics covered include nutrition and meal planning, monitoring and controlling blood sugar, fitness and exercise to control blood sugar, dealing with difficult emotions that often occur when trying to manage diabetes, proper care of the body that can be affected by diabetes such as the feet and eyes, med- ication management, working with your healthcare team, and additional relevant topics for those who have diabetes.
