After Carolyn Harris, along with her husband, Pas- tor James Harris, edu- cated all eight of their children, including Norman Harris, with undergraduate, graduate and doctoral de- grees, she decided to fulfill her destiny in being a true ex- ample for her children and her Christian family. She en- rolled in Nova Southeastern University to pursue her doc- torate.
Her journey of achieve- ment did not come without challenge. Mrs. Harris ex- perienced several setbacks after her husband became ill, because of renal failure and a kidney transplant, which led to serious, life-threatening health complications. It was here in Tampa, at Tampa General Hospital on Thanks- giving Day (2016) that Pas- tor Harris received his new kidney.
Through it all, Mrs. Har- ris was an awesome care- giver, but stayed focused on her doctoral studies and per- severed. Her doctoral success exemplifies the proverbial saying, “delay doesn’t mean denial.”
Mrs. Harris gives credit to GOD, but also cherishes the support from her son, Norman Harris. Since moving to Tampa in 2007, Norman has balanced his time between building a law practice, accompanying his brother, Alex (the singer), preaching and other public speaking, being a community servant, and assisting his mother, to fulfill her dream of matriculating through a rigor- ous doctoral program in edu- cation.
As one of eight children, Norman stood by his mother as her editor and did his best to care for his dad, never losing sight that he had much more to accomplish than being a successful lawyer.
Earlier this year, Nor- man filed to run for office — Florida House District 61 - and continues to juggle much because of his caring de- meanor and concern for hu- mankind.
On Friday, June 15, 2018, Norman and several of his siblings were ecstatic when their mother marched at Nova Southeastern University and was hooded by her major professor, now being referred

to as Dr. Carolyn Harris. She now joins all her success- ful children by holding a ter- minal degree like many of them.
Norman, as an advocate for equal rights of women and quality public education for all children, is the attorney of
the family and strongly sup- ported his mom’s pursuit of her Doctorate in Educational Leadership. He salutes his mother’s milestone and es- teems her and all other women who continue to make a difference, in this...the year of the woman!
