Alumni Stay True To Their Schools When It Comes To The Florida Classic
 BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
The Florida Blue Florida Classic will be held this week- end in Orlando. The Sunshine State rivalry between the Rat- tlers of Florida A & M Univer- sity (FAMU) and the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman Univer- sity (B-CU) dates back 10 1925. Orland0 has hosted the annual event for the 21 years.
Activities kick off on Friday with the Battle of the Bands and several expos throughout the day. The game is Saturday, November 19, 2 p. m. at Camp- ing World Stadium.
When it comes to wonder- ing who will win the game, alumni remain true to their alma maters – no matter what the schools’ win-loss records are.
These are comments from some of the alumni of both schools:
For the family of Mrs. Doris Scott and the late
Robert Scott, ‘it’s a family affair.’ The Scotts, their chil- dren and grandchildren (a granddaughter is studying Pharmacy at FAMU) are all B- CU alumni or current stu- dents.
The Scotts are one of the families that attend all the ac- tivities over the weekend. About the game, Mrs. Scott said, “B-CU is the best team and the best team will win.”
Dr. Walter L. Smith,
the 7th President of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, alumni, said: “I’m expecting the Rattlers to win, no matter what. We are going to strike, strike and strike again.” Dr. Smith will not be in Orlando this weekend be- cause of a commitment to the book he is writing.
B-CU alumnae, Elaine Saffold said: “It's FAMU and B-CU Florida Classic trash- talking week! All jokes aside, it's ‘Showtime’ in Camping World, where we will witness

the Bethune-Cookman Wild- cats continue to DEFANG THE RATTLERS with EIGHT straight wins. B-CU Wildcats coming off a 'Hail Mary,' last second win at South Carolina Central. Let's Go Wildcat!!!!
Keisha Pickett Boyd:
“Of course, I have full confi- dence in my beloved FAMU Rattlers. They are resilient and strong. They understand that while all games are im-
portant, THIS is THE game of the season! If nothing else, we know the Marching 100 will take care of the "WildKittens" at halftime!”
Wendell Duggins, Pres- ident of the National Alumni of FAMU, Tampa Chapter: “It’s Classic time again! We are extremely excited to be at this point of our football season when two great HBCUs in the state of Florida ae able to play each other for bragging rights.
I hope all our alumni, friends and supporters will continue to support these two great universities as we con-
tinue to work hard to keep stu- dents in school at FAMU and B-CU. ...... GO RATTLERS!!
Carolyn Hepburn Collins: “The Florida Classic is the HBCU Florida State Football Sports and Aca- demic experience.
“My personal choices are different. I go to attend the Board Meetings, Chew and Chat with Alumni and friends, and make it to the game with my spouse, Norris, and our family. As we say at FAMU now, it is FAMU-LY! G O B-CU CATS AND GO GO FAMU RATTLERS!”
