Fire Set At Home Of Recently Released S. C. Cop That Shot Black Man
MICHAEL SLAGER
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- A small, suspicious fire broke out at the South Carolina home of a white former police officer who is charged with murder in the shooting death of an unarmed black man, local media re- ported on Saturday.
Vinyl siding was damaged at the home of former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager and an incen- diary device was found at the scene, authorities told the Post and Courier newspaper in Charleston, South Carolina.
Slager is accused of shoot- ing 50-year-old Walter Scott in the back as he ran away from the officer during a traffic stop in April 2015.
The fire at Slager's Hanahan home came hours after protests over the release of Slager ear- lier in the day.
A police official said that two people dressed in black were seen running away from the house and that an arson inves- tigation is underway.
Slager, 34, is under house arrest, according to an attorney for Scott's family, after being released from jail on $500,000 bail on Monday. It is unclear whether he was at the house at the time of the fire.
A small group of demonstra- tors clashed during a rally at North Charleston City Hall on Friday morning.
In a heated exchange during the morning demonstration, long-time activists encouraged non-violent protests, while some younger demonstrators hinted that it was time to "dis- turb the peace" and fight vio- lence with violence, according to the Post and Courier report.
Reality Docu-Series Will
Nobody won the Powerball jackpot this weekend.
Lottery officials say the esti- mated $1.3 billion prize is the world's largest. Ever.
The jackpot is so big that bill- boards in Texas and around the country have to advertise the price as $999 million because they're not built to show bil- lions. The lottery computers will handle the decimal point without a problem.
No one matched all six
Powerball numbers Saturday night, leading to the astronom- ical prize. And that is all but certain to grow before the next drawing Wednesday.
Saturday's winning numbers — 16-19-32-34-57 and Power- ball number of 13 — did gain some people a little wealth: 25 tickets won $1 million by matching five numbers, and three other tickets won $2 mil- lion because they paid extra to multiply smaller prizes.

Black Lives Matter
DETROIT, MI-- Before 2008, Christine Beatty, as the chief of staff to Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, was a celebrated strategist with a promising future in politics. That changed the morning the Detroit Free Press published the private, intimate text mes- sages that Beatty and Kil- patrick exchanged on their government-issued phones during their six-year extra- marital affair.
The fallout was brutal. The texts proved that Beatty had once lied under oath by deny- ing her affair with Kil- patrick. Beatty, a mother, was sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, she was mer- cilessly roasted in the press and by the public. And after the media smoke cleared and people moved on to drag someone else, Beatty still found herself branded with a scarlet A.

Queen Latifah is ex- ecutive producer of the series.
