Local Barber To Host 6th Annual VIBES Event
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
VIBES (Very Important Black Entrepreneurs’ So- cial) is hosting its 6th an- nual VIBES Holiday Networking Soirée Prom Edition.
The event is in collabora- tion with Culture Krave, a business networking and collective media brand based in Tampa and founded by Whitney
Nicole. The theme this year is a homage to the Harlem Renaissance and Black en- trepreneurship.
Tareva Woodard, founder, says that this event is an annual celebration of minority entrepreneurship and innovation in the Tampa Bay area.
Woodard, a barber at Fadeology Barbers, de- scribes herself as a serial en- trepreneur and says that this event brings entrepre-
neurs and customers to- gether to increase the power of the Black dollar.
Woodard states, “Be- fore I was a barber, I was in corporate America. I re- member the holiday events we had every year. In addi- tion to networking, it's a holiday celebration for en- trepreneurs.”
“I love to see Black busi- nesses connect with new people and expand their business. This event brings great experiences for the customer and the entrepre- neur.”
The event, scheduled for December 4, 2022, already has many sponsors and ven- dors. To find out more and get on the waiting list for tickets and location notifica-
tion go to: https://tam- panightspromedition.com. Ticket sales will be open on October 1, 2022.
Woodard states that the preparation starts early and that is why she is getting the word out so early. This year’s event will be indoors and will have music, cuisine from the city's top chefs, high fashion on the black carpet, and Black entrepre- neurs who all embody Black excellence.
Woodard, a Middleton graduate, lives in Tampa with her husband, Ter- rence ‘Waldo’ Woodard, and their three daughters Triniti, Lyric, and Kyra. She just released her hair- care line for men, called King’s Kare.

The C. N. A. Technical In- stitute has $1.5 million in scholarships for interested in- dividuals. Those who apply and qualify will have an opportu- nity to get their GED, as well as get a career in Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Home Healthcare.
Ellisa Durrant and Ja- clyn Kelly, co-owners of C. N. A. Technical Center, have oper- ated the institute for the past 5 years. Previously, they spent about 15 years in nursing care. They are currently located at 5405 E. Fowler Ave. (Tampa 33617).
“This is an opportunity for an individual to get two diplo- mas at one time, and at no cost,” Ms. Durrant stated. Classes are held in-person or online. Ms. Kelly added, “cur- rently, we have partnered with the Hillsborough County School Board to provide indi- viduals with their GED...”
Among other partners are, Tampa Housing Authority, The Spring, Camelot and UACDC. The ENCORE partnership has made it possible for them to offer the scholarships.
“The process is very sim- ple,” Ms. Durrant said. “The individual needs a photo ID, must be a Florida resident, and they take a level test just to see
where they may need help to prepare for the GED.”
The ladies decided to start their own school of training after seeing that nursing homes and other healthcare facilities were having a tough time get- ting qualified workers. “We make sure our students are qualified nursing assistants, and we help with job place- ment,” Ms. Durrant said.
The ladies state, “As Nurs- ing Home Administrators, we know firsthand that the Certi- fied Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are the backbone of any skilled nursing facility.” Therefore, they not only focus on the skills of the individual, but making sure the person is well rounded in other areas.
Those interested in finding out if you are qualified for a scholarship, should call (813) 257-9096, for additional infor- mation.
