Bucs’ Fans Pleased With First Home Win In 22 Months
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
It’s been nearly 2 years since the Tampa Bay Bucca- neers have won a game in Raymond James Stadium. However, the fans have re- mained faithful and contin- ued to attend the games, with hopes that this Sunday will be the day of a win at home. This was the first home game win for head coach Lovie Smith.
The Bucs defeated the Jaguars of Jacksonville by 1 touchdown, 38-31. That was enough for the fans to cele-

Fans like Albert “Buci-
fied Bert” Owens were still hyped and excited about the win on Monday. “It felt so good. Like a FAMU-BCU or

FSU-Florida game. We’re number 1 in the state. Do you know what that means,” he said in his excitement.
“We haven’t had a chance to walk out of the stadium as victors since 2013. It’s amaz- ing! I can’t wait for the oppor- tunity to play the next game,” he continued.
This coming Sunday, Oc- tober 18th, the Bucs will be off. For Bucified Bert, that’s a plus. “We’re going into the bye week as winners and that’s great. We have some players who can sue that week to heal.”
Being a mascot for News Channel 8, Bucified Bert said he has to control his emotions – win or lose. “When fans from the oppos- ing team come up to me after the game and ask how to get to I-275, I have to be able to

tell them.”
Bucified Bert said he
had reached out to prayer partners earlier in the day Sunday, 7 a. m. “If people went to my facebook page, I had prayed that Jameis wouldn’t have any intercep- tions, he didn’t; I prayed that we had selected the right kicker and he did good. So prayer works,” he said.
Alfred Pyles was pleased with the job Jameis Win- ston had done as quarter- back. “No other rookie has come in and lit it up like Winston and we’re glad about that,” he said. “He has to cut down on his own mis- takes, but all of that will come in time. The Bucs is a compet-

itive team that has a chance to win. Sunday’s win was a good win. We hope that’s the start of big things to come at home.”
Dexter Bryant said he was pleased with the win on Sunday and glad for Win- ston and Coach Smith. “Jameis is improving a lot and he’ll get better. He’s a good student of the game and he will continue to get better.”
Robert Scott, Jr. was “so happy for Winston and Coach Smith, and the en- tire team. We just hope this is the start of what is to come – good things to come for the team. We have to take this one step at a time, however.”
