Tampa Alumni Chapter Of Kappa Alpha Psi Hosts ‘Boot Camp’
Distinguished Alumna, Emmy-Winner Named To Lead FAMU Communications
TALLAHASSEE --- Last week, Interim President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., announced the appointment of Kathy Y. Times as the new Executive Associate Di- rector of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Office of Communications. The ap- pointment is effective Thurs- day, Oct. 6.
In this role, Times will be responsible for developing and implementing all of the University's marketing, mass communications, and social media strategies.
Times is president of Yel- low Brick Media Concepts, a public relations firm. Prior to starting her company, she was a primary news anchor in Jackson, Miss., and worked as a broadcast and newspaper reporter. She has won Emmys and other awards for her investigative reporting.

tems and journalism at FAMU. She furthered her ed- ucation at Northwestern Uni- versity's Medill School of Journalism, where she earned a master's degree in journalism.

B-CU To Receive $908,540 In Partnership With
Florida A&M University
Award From The Na- tional Oceanic And At- mospheric Administration
Bethune-Cookman Uni- versity (B-CU) will receive $908,540 over a five-year period as a member of the Center for Coastal and Ma- rine Ecosystems (CCME) funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program with Minority Serv- ing Institutions (EPP/MSI). B-CU is one of the six part- nering institutions working with lead institution Florida A&M University (FAMU), California State University - Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Jackson State University (JSU), Texas A&M Univer- sity-Corpus Christi (TAMU- CC), and the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
B-CU along with other partner institutions bring an abundance of significant ac- ademic programs and faculty
with extensive expertise in coastal marine ecosystems. These institutions also have well-established records of policy, preparing graduates for productive careers and conducting high impact re- search.
Dr. Hyun Jung (“J.”) Cho, Professor of Integrated Environmental Science will serve as the B-CU Principal Investigator and will lead one of CCME’s three the- matic areas, “Place-based Conversation,” which AAUW will address management of coastal resources and envi- ronmental challenges facing coastal communities such as habitat loss, water quality degradation, loss of biodiver- sity, and balancing economic issues of resource manage- ment and recreation.
This award was an- nounced at the NOAA EPP/MSI 8th Biennial Edu- cation and Science Forum held in New York City follow- ing a rigorous national com- petition.
