Officer That Choked Eric Garner To Death Gets Big Pay Raise; Man Who Filmed It Gets Jail Sentence
Video Reveals Another Unarmed Black Man Was Fatally Shot By Police
TULSA, OK --- Police in Tulsa, Ok. released video footage on Monday from an of- ficer-involved fatal shooting of an unarmed black man.
Both dash cam footage and helicopter footage show that 40-year-old Terence Crutcher had his hands in the air and was unarmed when he was shot by white Tulsa po- lice officer, Betty Shelby Sept. 16.
PBS Newshour reports that Police Chief Chuck Jordan said no weapon was found in or around Crutcher’s vehicle after the shooting.
At a news conference on Saturday, police spokeswoman Jeanne MacKenzie said that officers were responding to reports of a stalled vehicle, and Crutcher failed to follow repeated commands by offi- cers to put his hands up. Crutcher is seen on video walking toward his vehicle with his arms in the air.

Officers then left Crutcher lying on the ground for nearly two minutes before checking toseeifhehadapulseandad- ministering first aid.

N.Y. police officer Daniel Pantaleo choked Eric Garner to death and is now being re- warded with a pay raise.
NEW YORK --- It’s been over two years since Officer Daniel Pantaleo’s illegal chokehold killed Eric Garner, and de- spite the national fallout, the officer is making more money than before the fatal en- counter. Even though he’s been on desk duty ever since, the officer has racked up hun- dreds of thousands of dollars.
During fiscal year 2016, the officer received $119,996— over $40,000 more than his official base salary of $78,026, according to payroll records. The total amount includes $23,220 of overtime pay and $12,853 of “unspecified pay.”
It’s also a 14 percent increase from FY 2015, when he killed Garner. That year, he made $105,061.
Meanwhile, the man who filmed the chokehold—and Garner’s now famous dying words, “I can’t breathe”— is headed to jail. Ramsey Orta charged that he’s been ha- rassed and arrested by the po- lice for filming Garner’s death. Within a year of captur- ing and circulating the footage, Orta was arrested and jailed at Rikers Island at least twice.
He recently received a four- year jail sentence for separate drugs and weapons counts. He maintains that the NYPD is in- tentionally targeting him for payback.
Minnesota Mall Stabbing Suspect’s Family Stunned By His Actions
N.Y. Congressman Has Time To Chime Into ‘Colin Kaepernick’s Stand’ Against Injustice; Tweets After Bombing Suspect Caught
Authorities have identified Dahir Ahmed Adan, 20, as the dead suspect behind the wounding of 10 people at a Minnesota mall.
The violence appeared to be the work of a "lone attacker," officials said Monday, and fed- eral authorities are looking at whether it was a potential act of terrorism in an immigrant- rich state that has struggled to stop the recruiting of its young men by groups including the Islamic State.
"We haven't uncovered any- thing that would suggest other than a lone attacker at this point," St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson said at a news conference with Min- nesota Gov. Mark Dayton. "If that changes, we will be transparent about that."
Adan's family released its first public statement Monday night through attorney Ab- dulwahid Osman, express- ing condolences and well-wishes to the victims of the attack.

erating with the investigation, the statement said.
Adan, a young Somali man dressed as a private security guard, entered the Crossroads Center mall Saturday wielding what appeared to be a kitchen knife.
Anderson has said the man reportedly made at least one reference to Allah and asked a victim if he or she was Mus- lim before attacking. The man was shot dead by an off-duty police officer. None of the in- jured suffered life-threatening wounds.
Colin Kaepernick continues to speak volumes about the injus- tices cast over people of color at game Sunday.
Shortly after the arrest of Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old man wanted in Saturday night’s explosion in New York City, a congressman took to Twitter to connect the possible terrorist act with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) sent out a sarcastic tweet di- rected at Kaepernick’s protest for equal rights for Blacks and minorities shortly after Rahami’s arrest.
Zeldin tweets: ‘Suspect in custody. You are welcome Colin Kaepernick.’
Since the NFL preseason, Kapernick has led a silent protest during the national an- them. Kapernick has noted that his protest will continue
REP. LEE ZELDIN
until equal rights are attained for minorities
The Long Island Republican hates Colin Kaepernick, therefore hates what Kaeper- nick’s message is really about. Zeldin represents the eastern end of Long Island.
