Father Cleared In Death Of Daughter
Jury Finds Man
The Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s Office decided not to prosecute a Clearwater man who was accused of stabbing his daughter as she tried to break up a fight between him and her boyfriend.
Prosecutors dismissed the manslaughter charge against Laurence Green, 52, on Friday, saying they deter- mined he was acting in self- defense.
Sidney Green, 22, died May 8, 2022, from stab wounds. According to her boyfriend, Kyle Peter, the two were at Sidney Green’s apartment that day when a fight broke out between Peter and Laurence Green that eventually moved to the parking lot of Bay Cove Apartments.
According to Peter’s ac- count, one of Sidney Green’s sisters grabbed the hair of Peter’s mother, who

had come to pick up the cou- ple from the apartment com- plex. Peter stated he then threw a brick at the sister’s car, at which point more fighting broke out between him and Laurence Green.
Sidney Green tried to break up the fight and was stabbed in the lower left ab- domen, according to police. Both men were taken into custody, eventually releasing Peter. Laurence Green re-

mained in jail on a manslaughter charge.
The state attorneys say that Laurence Green had brain surgery about six months before the fight, and if punched in the head could have been seriously injured or killed. They determined that Green had been acting in self-defense when he pulled out a knife on Peter, who had been punching him in the head, and accidentally stabbed Sidney Green in- stead.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has charged William Redden with addi- tional crimes in the case of a missing woman’s death. War- rants were filed for sexual battery of an incapacitated victim and voyeurism.
The victim, Stephanie Shenefield, was last seen June 3, 2022. On June 10, 2022, her remains were found in a ditch in Palmetto.
Sheriff Rick Wells said detectives gained access to Shenefield’s computer June 8 and discovered she had hired an Uber ride to Redden’s house.
“He verifies that Stephanie was there on that Friday he tells them that they hung out for a while and that Stephanie left the residence that next morning,” Sheriff

Wells said.
Court documents describe
what deputies saw on the recordings taken from Red- den’s house. Shenefield was seen arriving at 1:20 a.m.
The video also shows Shenefield and Redden having sex on the sofa; and Shenefield appearing unre- sponsive shortly afterward, the probable cause affidavit
said.
Redden is seen picking
her up and carrying her into the bedroom, out of sight of cameras. At about 4:30 a.m., Redden is seen searching her purse and dragging what appears to be a body wrapped in a sheet through his living room. He is also seen remov- ing the battery and possibly the SIM card from Shene- field’s phone.
An outside camera shows Redden loading the body into his vehicle and driving away.
Redden was initially charged with abuse of a corpse, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an altered firearm.
Redden is in the Mana- tee County Jail. His total bond is currently $218,000.
