WILSON
MRS. MARY ANN SMITH WHITE
Mrs. Mary Ann Smith White of Tampa, FL passed on Friday, June 17, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace, 8718 N. 46th Street, Tampa FL 33617, with Pastor Earl B. Mason, Sr., officiating. Interment will fol- low in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery 4516 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa FL.
Mary was born on May 30, 1946, to Archie Smith, Sr., and Annie Helen (Hunt) Smith in Tampa, FL. She was the eldest of six children. She matricu- lated through the Hillsborough County School District, gradu- ating from Middleton High School. She attended St. Pe- tersburg College earning an As- sociates and an Early Childhood Development Certi- fication. She had an early pas- sion for helping and teaching youth. For years she worked at Montgomery Wards where she met her beloved husband Frank shopping for shoes. On September 24, 1988, she mar- ried Frank White in Tampa, FL.
Mary accepted Christ at early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, FL. Mary was a longstanding member of the Bible Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace since 1998. She was active in Seniors Min- istry and vocal in Leadership Council where her opinions were known and respected. For decades she served in the Youth-4-Truth ministry teach- ing all who desired to learn more about Christ and how to apply biblical principles to their everyday young life. She loved each child and quickly be- came their Mother White. News, both good and bad, al- ways traveled to Mrs. White through both children and par- ents. She praised during the good and was an influential part in helping change a child’s direction during the not so good. No one wanted to see Mrs. White actually “get the bat” which she always kept in her classroom corner.
Mary was a collector of many things. She loved clothes and jewelry. She was a devoted grandmother, making sure she attended every event and en- dured the hot Florida sun to support Myles and Qunay at football games. She loved her children and grandchildren.
She made everyone she encoun- tered feel as though they too were her child. Her love was open and accepting, she knew no fault.
