Tampa Patriarch Celebrates 96th Birthday
Mr. Kaiser Pierce celebrated his 96th birthday with his family and friends.

Recently, family members and friends of Mr. Kaiser Pierce gathered to help him celebrate his birthday. Mr. Pierce turned 96 years old on October 11th.
Mr. Pierce was the 12th of 15 children of Ed- mond and Ollie Samuel Pierce. He was born and raised in Sandersville, Georgia. At the age of 19, he moved to Miami in search of employment. He was hired as a driver in the shipyard, trans- porting food.
However, with the onset of World War II, his job ended because the ships were needed to fight the war.
He obtained employment as a truck driver and returned to Georgia. His next stop was North Carolina, where he worked in the tobacco plants. Still focused on improving his quality of life, Mr. Pierce moved to Tampa in 1948.
He found employment with USPP, and re- mained with that company for 31 years, retiring in 1981, his daughter, Ms. Anita Pierce Jor- dan said.
After settling in Tampa, Mr. Pierce married
and became the father of 8 children, grandfather t0 17, and great grandfather to 8.
As time passed, he began to enjoy the simple things in life such as fishing, playing dominoes, and sports. Now, he enjoys watching television and spending time with his family. He also enjoys sharing his family history with his family, and when he begins to talk, the cell phones come out to record the details, Ms. Pierce Jordan said.

Our Military Men & Women
Two Army Recruits Complete Basic Combat Training
Two U. S. Army recruits with ties to the Tampa Bay Area, re- cently graduated from basic combat training. Their respective graduation ceremonies were held at Fort Jackson, in Columbia, South Carolina.
During the basic training period which spanned nine weeks, National Guard Private Ricardo R. Pouza, Sr., and Reserve PrivateAlondraA.Sanchez studiedtheArmymission,his- tory, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received in- struction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice sys- tem, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Private Pouza is the son of Yurina Leyva, and Ricardo Pouza, of Tampa. He graduated from Alonso High School in 2015.
Private Sanchez is the daughter of Ysahilda E. Borges and Jose S. Fatule Sanchez, of Tampa. She graduated from Gaither High School in 2015.
Two U. S. Air Force Enlistees Complete Basic Training
Recently, two individuals with ties to the Tampa Bay Area graduated from basic military training. Their graduation cere- monies took place at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
Airman 1st Class Brandon M. Geronimo and Airman 1st Class Anthoney M. Savidge completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic train- ing earn four credits toward an associate in applied science de- gree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman 1st Class Geronimo also earned distinction as an Honor Graduate. He is the son of Ronaldo Geronimo and grandson of Bienvenido Salas. both of Windermere, Florida.
Airman 1st Class Geronimo graduated from Alconbury High School, in New York, NY, in 2009. He continued his edu- cation at the University of Tampa, where he earned his Bache- lor's Degree in 2015.
Airman 1st Class Savidge is the son of Sean M. Schiele, of Brooksville, and April M. Savidge, of Tampa. His grand- parents, Daniel and Leisa Savidge, also reside in Tampa.
He graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School, in 2015.
Both airmen also earned 4 credits toward an Associate in Ap- plied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
