High Schools Listed Among Most
Academically Challenging
All 27 traditional high schools in Hillsborough County Public Schools are listed on the Washington Post’s recent rankings of the nation’s best high schools.
Hillsborough High School was the highest rated in the Tampa Bay area, ranked 55th in the nation. Three other Hills- borough County high schools were ranked in the top 100 on the list that included more than 2,300 high schools from around the nation. King High was ranked 65th, Robinson High was ranked 78th, and Plant High was ranked 88th.
The ranking now is called America’s Most Challenging High Schools and is published by the Washington Post. The list previously was known as America’s Best High Schools and was published by Newsweek.
“It’s great to see all our high schools getting this kind of recognition,” said Acting Su- perintendent Jeff Eakins.
JEFF EAKINS
“We’re going to continue chal- lenging our students because we know they’re up to the task, and we want them prepared for life after high school.”
The high school Challenge Index is based on a formula that takes the number of Ad- vanced Placement, Interna- tional Baccalaureate, and college-level tests adminis- tered at a school divided by the number of graduating seniors.
