Tampa Man Taking His Message Across The U. S. About Red Light Cameras
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
Benjamin Lee Tate, Sr.,
retired, U. S. Army after 22 years, is taking his message about the unconstitutionality of red light cameras across the country.
Tate, who has reached out to numerous news media out- lets said, “I’m tired of seeing citizens taken advantage of by these criminal camera compa- nies and being supported by corrupt politicians...”
In his travels around the country, Tate has gathered data to support his belief that citizens are not bound by the laws of red light cameras. Doing investigative work is part of his training. While in the military, he became very knowledgeable of the rights that the Constitution of the United States allows citizens, even did some investigations, he says.
As a matter of fact, Tate has gone to jail on more than one occasion, had his license suspended, lost his car and several thousand dollars in tools, and as he says, “most importantly, my camcorder in which had enormous amounts of on-site evidence of the fraudulent red light cameras.”

Having been licensed to carry a weapon, he lost that to the Tampa Police Dept. when he was stopped.
The idea that these cam- eras save lives is a deception, he says.
Because of his fight against red light cameras, Tate be- lieves he is being targeted by police and federal officials.
“For the past 18 months...I have investigated every red light camera intersection, both city and county, spending countless hours monitoring each of the intersections. These cameras are an absolute fraud,” he said.
Tate tells folks not to pay the tickets they get from red light cameras. “No one should pay these tickets.”
On the many times he has been arrested and taken to jail, Tate says he requests a trial by jury, but has been told he cannot get a jury trial with a red light camera case. On one occasion he says the case was dismissed.
“I have not committed any crime whatsoever. I simply re- fuse to pay into a scam.”
Tate has sent certified let- ters to President Barack Obama, members of the Florida Legislature, State At- torney Pam Bondi, Tampa Police Dept., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Fed- eral Judge Paul T. Jeske, Judge Dick Greco, Jr.
Tate was sent a letter to appear in court on April 29, 2015, in front of Judge Jeske. He did not appear. “I have made it perfectly clear that under no circumstance will I adhere to any actions in reference to these fraudulent cameras.”
Earlier this week he had not been notified by the court. Anyone wishing to assist Tate, share information or get his full report, should text him
