Senior Citizens Will Be Honored
On Saturday, May 9, 2015, Minister Janice Nunn-Nelson will present the 4th Annual “Salute to Sen- iors Concert.” During this 6 p. m. program several sen- iors will be surprised to learn that they are being honored.
“Having been a musician for over 50 years, I have had the opportunity to see how much it means to our seniors when they get to sing songs that have meaning and are special to them,” Minister Nunn-Nelson said.
“I think that some con- temporary songs are nice,
but they could never replace or give the substance that the old gospel and hymns do. Some places even feel that the senior choir should be done away with. Well, I don’t!,” she further ex- plained.
Among those who will be program participants are: Sisters Bernell Brown, Willie Brown, Pauline Capers, Edith Sheppard, Marion Jones, Sheila Scott (Piney Grove), Pastor Carnell Upshaw and The Kingdom Young Disci- ples and Girls Gone

Wise, under the direction of Paula Lane. Also, Greater Bethel M. B. Church, Mt. Moriah P. B. Church, St. Matthew M. B. Church and Piney Grove M. B. Church, San Antonio.
“Seniors paved the way for most of us and those old songs brought us through a lot of things. Even if you did- n’t know the words, you could just hum along,” Min- ister Nunn-Nelson said.
“I thank God for giving me this to do. To see them singing their songs and the expression on the honorees’
faces when we surprise them is a picture that is so beauti- ful,” she concluded.
Anyone 55 and older can sing with the choir, just ar- rive by 4:45 p. m,. on Satur- day. The program will be held at St. John Progressive M. B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., pastor. The attire for the evening is black suits for the men and black dresses for the ladies.

Business And Civic Leader Leads Restaurant Group’s Bid To Continue Operating At Tampa Airport
The impact of Tinsley-led companies on Tampa Inter- national Airport, the restau- rant industry and the Tampa Bay community is unques- tionable. Under the leader- ship of George W. Tinsley, Sr., his companies have drawn local, regional and na- tional recognition for excel- lence in restaurant operations and sales for more than 20 years.
Tinsley is looking to ex- tend the legacy of corporate excellence and community service to Tampa Bay as the only 100% local company bid- ding to operate in the re- designed Tampa Airport.
In 1995, Tinsley Family Concessions (TFC) began op- erating in Tampa Interna- tional Airport as a junior partner. Due to its 20-year history of operating excel- lence, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recog- nized TFC as a model junior partner of HMSHost, its ma- jority partner in restaurants they operate in the airport’s main terminal and Airside C.
One of the company’s most well known airport restaurants, TGI Friday’s, has been a national top perform- ing franchise for years. Re- cently, the Vice President of TGI Fridays Franchise Opera- tions recognized the perform- ance of the restaurant under Tinsley’s leadership, “George Tinsley is a true leader of the brand with 20 years as a franchisee in Tampa, Florida.”
He has been a true be- liever in the Fridays brand and is not only passionate about Fridays, but passionate about setting high standards and delivering upon them. George Tinsley is a great example of what success at

Fridays looks like.”
TFC’s commitment to
hard work, team play and cus- tomer service is reflected in the numerous awards its TGI Fridays at Tampa Airport has received over the past 20 years. The restaurant won TGI Fridays Highest Domes- tic Franchise Sales Award and the Domestic Franchise Restaurant of the Year award for nine consecutive years.
As a JV partner with HMSHost, Tinsley has been part of Tampa Airport’s Con- cessions Disadvantage Busi- ness Enterprise (ACDBE) program.
The restaurant experience, success and local impact of Tinsley led companies extend beyond the airport. Tinsley and his wife, Seretha, be- came Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) franchise owners in 1986. Their KFC franchise has been a consistent winner of the KFC Million Dollar Sales Award over the past 30 years and is ranked one of the top four rated KFC Restaurants for customer service in Florida.

proven success in the restau- rant and concession industry. The country’s 2nd largest fran- chisee, Ulysses Bridgeman has invested with Tinsley to form Tinsley-Bridgeman, LLC and provide added financial strength to support planned growth.

moving to the next level of concession operations by sub- mitting their proposal as a lead ACDBE 100%. If awarded this contract, Tins- ley-Bridgeman, LLC will make business history by be- coming a Prime Concession- aire. Tampa International Airport will be one of the few airports in the U. S. that can boast of this type of home- grown success story.
All of the brand partners included in the Tinsley- Bridgeman, LLC proposal are
local businesses aligned with the Tinsley mission to operate with excellence and serve the community.
Frank Crum, past Pres- ident of the City of Tampa’s Black History Committee, re- marked on Tinsley’s involve- ment, “Despite his many accomplishments and respon- sibilities, Mr. Tinsley makes time to encourage others. Generosity can take many forms; Mr. Tinsley gives of his time, financial resources, and talents to uplift others.”
