Nina Simone’s Family Outraged
Celebrity Bloggers And Former BFFs In Dispute Over Unpaid Rent
Michelle ‘Atlien’ Brown and Funky Dineva
Celebrity bloggers and for- mer BFF’s Quentin “Funky Dineva” Latham and Michelle “ATLien” Brown, have gone from spilling the tea about entertainers to now shading each other over accu- sations of unpaid rent, dam- aged property and a missing washer and dryer. The once dy- namic duo are mostly known for their exposé on Chateau Sheree.
The hot mess started when Brown, who runs the site Straight From The A, took to Periscope to blast Dineva over allegations he trashed the townhouse she was renting to
him. She also claimed Funky Dineva’s drug addiction led to the trouble. Latham re- sponded to Brown’s accusa- tions, in which he apologetically admits that he took advantage of her by paying rent late, but he denies damag- ing her property and stealing her appliances. He acknowl- edges that he had fallen behind on rent but attributes it to de- pression and financial prob- lems caused by the recent passing of his mother.
David Alan Grier Will Be First Black Colonel Sanders
At Zoe Saldana’s Blackface
For KFC Commercials
Nina Simone’s brother, Sam Waymon thinks Zoe Saldana should have “thought a thousand times” before taking on the role of the singing legend in the upcom- ing biopic “Nina.”
“I’m outraged by the fact that Zoe Saldana was cho- sen.”
The family was furious when Saldana, who is of Do- minican and Puerto Rican an- cestry, was chosen to portray Simone, and photos of Sal- dana in blackface and wear- ing a prosthetic nose surfaced in 2012. A movie poster and trailer released earlier this week reignited their furor.
“Nina Simone . . . didn’t have a fake nose or fake lips. Everything about her was real. Why would you go with some- thing made up like that?” Waymon said. “Blackface was used by Hollywood early on to dehumanize and to not have to cast [blacks] . . . I would have thought more highly of [Saldana] if she would’ve turned down the role.”
Zoe Saldana is portraying Nina Simone in biopic.
Waymon, 71, also says Saldana and the film’s direc- tor, Cynthia Mort, never consulted the family. He adds the movie falsely depicts a ro- mantic affair between Simone and her assistant Clifton Henderson, played by David Oyelowo.
Meanwhile, Waymon has focused on promoting Jeff Lieberman’s documentary “The Amazing Nina Simone.” As for who Simone would have preferred to portray her, “She probably would’ve liked a Viola Davis-type of person . . . Someone with that disposi- tion and personality — anyone other than the person playing her now.”
David Alan Grier has been casted as Colonel Sanders for ad campaigns.
KFC’s Colonel Sanders has undergone multiple make- overs this past year, and now he will be played by comedian David Alan Grier.
The actor shared the news on his Twitter account, writ- ing, “Breaking News: David
Alan Grier has been cast as the first African American Colonel Sanders in the new KFC ad campaign.”
KFC has been attempting to revitalize its brand with new ad campaigns recently.
Joe Budden Pleads Guilty For Assaulting Ex
No, Jamie Foxx Is Not Married To Katie Holmes, Yet
On Thursday, Joe Budden pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in a case involving al- leged domestic violence against his former girlfriend. The New Jersey rapper agreed to plea to a non-criminal viola- tion which will not cause him to face jail time.]
Budden has been ordered to live a “law biding life.” The case stems from a 2014 arrest when the Slaughterhouse member was accused of beat- ing his ex-lover outside of a restaurant in New York, driv- ing her back to his house in Jersey, and attacking her again.
There were also allegations that Budden choked the woman and stole her cell phone. The plea deal allowed
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx
Even though Jamie Foxx has been wearing a gold ring on his wedding finger, he has- n’t secretly tied the knot to girlfriend Katie Holmes.
They’ve been together since 2013, but they have never officially confirmed they are dating. A rep for Foxx told us, “The marriage rumor is com- pletely false.”
And while Holmes has also been seen wearing a dainty ring on her left hand, a rep for the actress insisted she “is not married or engaged to any- one.”
Taking things to the next level, OK! Magazine even re- ported last week that the “Dawson’s Creek” star is sup- posedly pregnant with Foxx’s baby, with a source telling the mag, “The buzz started around Valentine’s Day that she’s al- most three months along, and that they’re having a girl.”
Meanwhile, passengers who flew on a JetSmarter private jet with Foxx last week were buzzing about the ring, a large gold band on his left hand.
Foxx was paid a bundle to fly with customers from New York to Atlanta on the jet, where he kept all entertained with jokes.
Former Love & Hip Hop star and rapper/producer, Joe Budden.
Budden not to be indicted on robbery, grand larceny, and criminal obstruction of breath- ing.
The 35-year-old rapper con- sistently maintained that he never assaulted the woman.
Not true, says her rep.
