Mother Gets 20 Years After Pleading Guilty Of Drowning Daughter

A Tampa mother will spend the next 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to intentionally drowning her four-year-old daughter on Tuesday.
Shakayla Denson orig- inally planned to use mental defect for her defense before admitting guilt and agreeing to a deal from prosecutors. She pled guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft.
Denson is accused of drowning her daughter Je’Hyrah Daniels, who had autism, in the Hillsbor- ough River in August 2018. Surveillance video from a used car lot, showed Den-
son walking with her daugh- ter before stealing a car and driving to the river.
“These witnesses observe the defendant remove the child, a four-year-old victim from the vehicle and take her into the Hillsborough River,” Prosecutor Jennifer Johnson said in “Where she proceeded out a way and then released her daughter into the river and walked away.
The witnesses observe the child bob up and down and then go under the water and not rise again.”
Along with her 20-year prison sentence, Denson will serve 10 years’ probation once she is out.

Police have has arrested a man and charged him with first-degree murder. He is ac- cused of killing a woman he had an argument with at a local club.
Deputies with the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 6200 block of Kiteridge Drive Friday in reference to an injured woman. When deputies ar- rived, the woman was found dead. She reportedly suffered severe upper body trauma, po- lice said.
During the investigation, deputies learned that the vic- tim was involved in an argu- ment with Matthew Terry, 47, late Friday night at The Landing Bar & Grill. Through investigative means, detectives were able to locate Terry, who fled the scene and was hiding in the overgrown brush and trees near Lithia Pinecrest Road. Terry was charged with first-degree murder. The in- vestigation is continuing.
“Deputies who arrived at this horrific scene overnight were able to identify the sus- pect and worked quickly to de- tain him,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chro- nister said, “This was a vio- lent and isolated incident and this suspect is now facing a first-degree murder charge for his actions. Our hearts are with the victim, and those who are impacted by this senseless loss.”

Police arrested a 25-year- old Tampa Bay Buccaneer player and charged him with driving under the influence. The arrest took place at 1505 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Travis Zion Jonsen was taken into custody shortly after 5 a.m., on Monday. Officers report- edly observed the vehicle speeding and operating in a pattern indicative of impair- ment.

With Attacking
Elderly Woman,
Police arrested a 22-year- old woman early Sunday after she allegedly attacked two people.
The attacker is accused of pulling the hair of the elderly woman so hard that she pulled the braids away from the victim’s scalp. When a 16- year-old attempted to help the elderly woman, the woman allegedly bit a portion of her fingernail off.
According to police, Ms. Tenisha Boykin got into a fight with the elderly woman after being accused of smok- ing marijuana in the woman’s bathroom. Boykins reportedly hit her elderly relative and pulled her hair. When another rela- tive attempted to stop the at- tack, Ms. Boykin is alleged to have bitten the teenager on the right hand so hard that a portion of the fingernail came off and caused bleed- ing.

Ms. Boykin was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on several charges. She was on proba- tion for unrelated crimes be- fore the Saturday night incident.
She is facing several charges including felony bat- tery, battery on a person over the age of 65, and child abuse. She is currently being held at the Pinellas County Jail.
