Ashanti Faces Stalker In Court, Again
ASHANTI
Ashanti’s stalker, Devar Hurd
The scary saga continues... In December 2014, Ashanti faced her stalker Devar Hurd in court which ended in mis- trial by judge Daniel Con- viser after making several attempts to contact the sick fe- male juror, who made it diffi- cult for the panelist to deliberate. Well, the prosecu- tors were able to file another case against Hurd, which
bring us to now.
According to Page Six,
Ashanti faced Hurd in court once again Thursday (Oct. 1). Hurd acted as his own lawyer and interrogated the singer as she sat on the stand, making for an uncomfortable exchange. Hurd brought up a tweet he sent to Ashanti in 2013, which violated a restraining order.
Hurd was convicted in 2009 of stalking and harassment after sending explicit shots to Ashanti’s mother, sending ex- plicit tweets to the singer, and taking a photo with her younger sister in October 2012, violating the restraining order.
Straight Outta Compton Director Interested In Doing Marvin Gaye’s Biopic
Pharrell’s 2014 hit “Happy” just got a revamp – in the form of a children’s book!
In a short video, Pharrell explains the reason behind the book: “Putting ‘Happy’ into a book for kids was an opportu- nity to give the message yet another platform. You can see that there’s been a spark...If this book makes one child ask him or herself, ‘What makes me happy?’ then we’ve done our job.”
And the positivity doesn’t stop there!
You can help contribute to the good vibes via social media. Up until December 31st, every time you use the hashtag #ReadHAPPY on Facebook, Twitter, or Insta- gram stating why reading makes you happy, a book will be donated to a child by First Book (“a nonprofit organiza- tion that “connects book pub- lishers and community organizations to provide ac- cess to new books for children in need.”)
Happy will be available for purchase on October 6th.
F. Gary Gray and legendary singer, Marvin Gaye
Jay Z’s Tidal Presents Charity Concert In Brooklyn
F. Gary Gray became the highest-grossing black direc- tor this summer with his hit film “Straight Outta Comp- ton” which grossed $157.5 mil- lion in the U.S. and Canada.
While he’s not planning on doing another biopic any time soon, he said he wouldn’t mind doing a movie about soul music legend, Marvin Gaye. Gray told TMZ, “All the things he talked about in his
album What’s Going On is rel- evant now, he was ahead of his time and his story is some- what Shakespearian and that’s just a deep story. The music is incredible, it’s timeless,” he said.
There have been many at- tempts to do a film about Gaye; a few years ago rumor had it that Lenny Kravitz would play the fallen singer.
Let’s cross our fingers.
Jay Z, Beyonce, Usher and Prince will perform.
On the heels of announcing his co-owned, music stream- ing service TIDAL has one mil- lion subscribers, Jay Z will fuse his company with another one of his companies – the rapper will hold a charity con- cert for TIDAL on October 20 at the Barclay’s Center, the venue for his team the Brook- lyn Nets.
Jay will perform at the event called “TIDAL X: 1020 Ampli- fied by HTC" along with su-
perstar wife Beyonce, Prince, Nicki Minaj, Usher, Lil Wayne, Damian Marley, T.I., and more.
The concert is billed as "a tribute to fans and a call to ac- tion" and will be available for streaming on TIDAL. Tickets for the event for TIDAL sub- scribers went on sale Sept. 30. Prices range from $74 through $244, and all proceeds will go to charities through the New World Foundation.
