Graduates From All Levels Prepare For Their Future
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
This is the time of year when students on all levels are elevated. The graduation ceremonies begin with kindergarten and culminate at the end of college. The completion of one phase of the education process pre- pares the student for the next step in life.
Antwaun Lamar Un- derwood, III, will be among those leaving kinder- garten and entering first grade. Antwaun will soon become an alumnus of Gate- way Christian Academy.
HeisthesonofMr.and Mrs. Antwaun (Debra) Underwood, Sr., and a member of Revealing Truth Ministries, where he will be traveling to the Bahamas this summer with the Marching Lions Band.
While it is a bit early for the 6-year-old to talk about the distant future, he very well may travel the path of a musician like his father.
On May 21st, N’Jhari Jackson participated in his Dialectic Commencement Ceremony. After having completed 8th grade at Paideia School of Tampa Bay, the young man will con- tinue his education at Rheto- ric High School, where he will enter as a 10th grade stu- dent.
N’Jhari plans to attend MIT and Harvard to con- tinue his education. He loves Math and Science and has accomplished many tasks al- ready.
The young honor student is the son of Ms. LaShina Lewis. At 13, the young honor student has already passed some high school classes.
When the students of Brandon High School walk across the stage to accept their diplomas, seventeen- year-old Avery Spencer will be among them. Avery, who is a junior, has earned enough credits to graduate early.
Avery is the daughter of Angie Webster and Dar- ryl Spencer. The young lady has a 3.6 grade point av- erage. While at Brandon, she participated in the Key Club and cheerleading.
The future for James Ferguson, III, will not be complete if it didn’t include art. James is a graduating senior of Commercial Arts Program at Tampa Bay Tech-
nical High School.
One of the young man’s
goals is to become a Graphic Designer. Recently, James won First Place in The Skills USA Competition for the State of Florida’s T-Shirt De- sign Division.
He will compete in the contest in June. It will take place in Kentucky.
He began drawing at the age of 10 and has continued to perfect his skills. This is evident is his string of achievements reflected in his professional portfolio.
James is the son of James and Angel Fergu- son, who encourages him to perfect his trade. In fact, James’s first professionally designed book cover was for a book entitled “The Soul OfAWoman&Her Time.” It is the second book his mother has written.
James plans to attend the University of Central Florida, where he will enroll in their Graphic Arts Pro- gram.
Ms. Breeyon A. Perry
recently graduated from Cal- ifornia State University Northridge. Ms. Perry is the daughter of Mrs. Toni Gambell Alexander and the niece of Harold and Janie Adams.
She earned her degree in Fashion Design and Market- ing.
The next step for this 22- year-old graduate is an in- ternship with the Fashion Nova Corp. in downtown Los Angeles.
Jazmyne is the daughter Minister Ricky and Brenda Wade. Her father retired from the Tampa Po- lice Department after more than twenty years of service. Her mother is currently em- ployed at the department as a civilian with more than 20 years of service.
So, it’s only natural that her future choice of careers would lean toward law en- forcement. As a youngster, the young lady developed an interest in law enforcement.
She completed her high school requirements and graduated from Jefferson High School four years ago. The next step in her career path took her to the campus of Bethune-Cookman Uni- versity. Jazmyne recently graduated from the institu- tion of higher learning with a 3.25 grade point average.
The enterprising young lady was presented her Bach- elor of Science Degree in
