Local First Chapter Of National Society Of Black Engineers Organized At Middleton High School

Last week, members of a national organization took the first steps of organizing a chapter on a high school campus. The meeting took place on the campus 0f Mid- dleton High School, where Mrs. Kim Moore is the Principal.
The first organizational meeting of the Middleton High School National Soci- ety of Black Engineers Jun- ior Chapter took place at the school on Friday, May 20th.
Joseph W. J. Robin- son, P. E., National Society of Black Engineers Tampa Bay Professional Chapter (NSBE) President, was joined at the school by Ms. Maya Carrasquillo, Pre- College Initiative Chairper- son; Tayo Akinrefon, Junior Club Advisor, NSBE Tampa Chapter member; Dr. Anderson D. Pre- witt, NSBE Tampa Bay Chapter Vice President; Roth Marcelin, NSBE
Jairan Mastrapa, Dalen Duncan, and Jaylen Harrold, seemed quite interested in the information provided by the National Society of Black Engineers.
Dalen Dunkin is shown at the inaugural meeting of the Na- tional Society of Black Engineers meeting held at Middleton High School.
Nia Corlis, Danielle Lassey, and Enku Chung were very at- tentive during the meeting.
USF Pre-College Initiative Chairperson; and Wali Shabazz, National Trust for the Development of African American Men, Middleton High School.
Mrs. Moore launched the meeting by welcoming members of the organization to the campus. Dr. Prewitt presented the program overview and responded to
questions from the students. Roth Marcelin intro- duced Ms. Carrasquillo, who delivered the keynote address to those in atten- dance. Her topic was, “What
NSBE Did For Me.”
Dr. Shabazz also spoke
about “The Excellence of Black Professional Or- ganizations.” (Photog- raphy by BRUNSON).
