MOTHER MERLYN EVANS VICKERS

Psalms 30:5 Mother Merlyn “Merle” Evans Vickers was born April 1, 1933; and died April 22, 2019. She was born in Plant City, FL to the parents of
Alphonso and Ovilir Evans.
She received her education through the Hillsborough County School System and attended Mar- shall High School. Mother Vickers retired from Hillsborough County Public Schools after serving as the Cafeteria Manager of Knights Ele- mentary and Buckhorn Elemen- tary. She faithfully worked at the Florida Strawberry Festival for the
past decade.
She was a faithful member of
the 1102 South Tyler Street Church of the Living God, and it was there she was baptized and received the Lord into her heart. Mother Vick- ers loved working with the children at Vacation Bible School, she was a proud member of the Hospitality Committee Mothers Board and she was a member of the National Order of the Eastern Stars.
Mother Vickers was an avid traveler who cruised often, she loved going new places and learn- ing new things. She also had many other fun hobbies, which included watching football, collecting African American inspired church figurines. She also loved shopping, reading and beauty treatments.
Mother Vickers was preceded in death by: her husband, Joseph E. Vickers; parents, Alphonso and Ovilir Evans; daughter Jacquelin “Jackie” Piereira; sisters Gladys George, Mary Smith, and Evelyn Lampkin; brothers, Lemiah Evans, James Clayton, and Joseph Clay- ton.
She leaves to mourn: her loving children, Carolyn Sykes, Cathy Wiggins (John), Milton Vickers (Robin), Daryl Vickers (Felicia), Eugene Vickers (Stephanie), and Sharyl Nenstiel (Greg); siblings, Lawrence Evans, Robert Clayton (MaryJoyce), and Deloris Washing- ton (Ernest); and a host of special grandchildren, great-grandchil- dren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may visit at The Church of the Living God, 1102 South Tyler Street Plant City Florida, 33563, May 3, 2019 from 6 P. M.-8 P. M., for the viewing.
Funeral services will be held 11 A. M., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Greater New Hope Anointed Min- istries, 2104 Mud Lake Road, Plant City, FL 33566.

BROTHER CHARLES SHERRY, SR.
A Celebration of Life for Brother Charles Sherry, Sr. will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 11 a. m. at St. John Progressive Mis- sionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco Street, Tampa, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., Pastor. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Brother Charles Sherry, Sr. was born on May 26th, 1927 in Miami, FL. He was a lifelong resi- dent of Tampa, and was educated in the schools of Hillsborough County. Mr. Sherry served his country faithfully in the U. S. Army and went on to work for 40 years with The International Longshore- man’s Association until retire- ment. Charles was an active member of the St. John Progres- sive M. B. Church, where he was the former president of the Male Choir, member of the Keenagers, and a member of the Distinguished Gentleman. He was also the oldest active member of the #10147 VFW Post in Tampa.
On April 25, 2019, Charles went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by: his par- ents, Allen and Kate (Katherine) Sherry; wives, Annie Mae Snow- Sherry (deceased) and Janie Brooks-Sherry (deceased).
He leaves to cherish: 8 chil- dren, Brenda J. Snow, Edward Snow and wife, Nadine, Towanda Sherry, Charles Sherry, Jr. and wife, Debra, Mary Sherry Watkins and husband, Lincoln, Tezland T. Sherry, Allen Sherry and wife, Angie, Mark Sherry; and nephew, Edward Amos, Sr.; step-children, Janet Brooks, Rev. MS. KATHERINE LAFRANCE BROWN
Ms. Katherine LaFrance Brown of Tampa passed away on Monday, April 17, 2019, sur- rounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be conducted Satur- day,May4,at11a.m.atRay Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, with Elder Sandra Brown, of Church of the Apostles, Inc., officiating. Inter- ment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Brown was a native of Florida and a lifelong resident of Tampa. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate. Before falling ill, Ms. Brown worked as a food service worker. She was a de- voted and loving mother who treasured and enjoyed her family. Her favorite past times included shopping and experiencing vari- ous types of cuisine (“getting her grub on”). Katherine accepted the Lord at an early age and held fast to her faith during her many trials and tribulations. She was a member of Metropolitan Commu- nity Church of Tampa.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lula Mae and Wesley Brown; sister, Mary Brown; and brothers, David Ponder and Willie Ponder.
She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Aaron Ladrell Green, Rodney Green, and Bryant Brown (Crystal); daughter, Courtney Viverette (Willie); grandchildren, Aaron, Roshawn, Jaylan Jokobi, Daron, Bryant, Jr., Anthony, Chance, Shanavia, E. Ms. Helen Jean Lewis of Tampa passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 4 at 11 a. m. at Holsey Temple CME Church, 3729 N. 15th Street, with Pastor Anita Williams, offi- ciating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Ms. Helen Jean Lewis was a native of Vienna, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for many years. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County. Ms. Lewis enjoyed social- izing with family and friends. She was a loving person who was known for her friendly personal- ity.
Helen was preceded in death by: her son, Rahman Flowers; stepfather, Ernest Reid; sisters, Mary Lewis and Kassandra Craw- ford; brother, Michael Reid; and niece, De’Miyah Reid.

Mr. Larry L. Polk, Sr. of Bran- don, Florida, passed away April 23, 2019. Mr. Larry L. Polk, Sr. was a native of Plant City, Florida and a resident of Brandon for 32 years. He was a graduate of Marshall High School and furthered his ed- ucation at Hillsborough Commu- nity College. Mr. Polk was a member of Rivers of Life Church Ministries, St. James AME Church, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was employed as a Mechanic at Mosaic
He leaves to cherish his mem- ory: his spouse, Olivia T. Polk; children, Christa Polk, Larry L.
