Judge To Host Event To Resolve License Issues For Veterans

On Friday, November 18th, Judge Daryl Man- ning, 13th Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County will host an event to benefit vet- erans. It will take place at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Primary Care VA Annex, 13515 Lake Terrace Lane, Tampa, FL 33637.
It will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend the event is required to register at www.hillsclerk.com.
The event, entitled
“Stand Down Court for Homeless and Low In- come Veterans,” is de- signed to help this segment of the population address minor legal issues and obtain their driver’s license. Al- though the event has been held in other parts of the state and the nation, this is

the first time it is being held in Hillsborough County.
Judge Manning said, “This is a very impactful pro- gram. There is no cost to the veterans, and this is a great opportunity for the commu- nity to do something for vet- erans.
“As a 30-year member of the military, I know how much veterans have sacri-
ficed and this is an opportu- nity for us to give back to the veterans. It should be consid- ered a hand-up, and not to hand-out to them.”
During the event, such is- sues as active misdemeanor warrants, fines, legal fees, court costs, ordinance viola- tions and other items will be addressed.
“Veterans have sacrificed a great deal for this country and this is an opportunity four our community to give back, especially this month, when we recognize and pay tribute to veterans. This hol- iday season provides us that opportunity to give some- thing back to them. I’m invit- ing all veterans to come out and bring as many other vet- erans as possible,” Judge Manning said.
