Robert Griffin III Returns To Practice Following Concussion
ROBERT GRIFFIN III
ASHBURN, Va. — Washing- ton Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III returned to practice Sunday, three days after the Washington quarter- back left the Redskins' exhibi- tion game against the Detroit Lions because of a concussion.
Griffin fully participated in individual, 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 drills during the approximately 2-hour session at Redskins Park.
"He was cleared for non-con- tact activity today," coach Jay Gruden said. "He'll be checked by a neurosurgeon later this week to determine whether he'll be cleared for (Saturday's game against the Ravens), but so far so good.
"He didn't have any head- aches or anything of that na- ture. He did a good job of executing the offense today."
Griffin, who speaks to the media once a week and after games, wasn't made available Sunday.
New England Patriots Give Free Agent WR Reggie Wayne A Physical
REGGIE WAYNE
The New England Patriots- Indianapolis Colts rivalry never seems to take a day off.
And on Sunday came the in- teresting nugget from reporters that the Patriots have longtime Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne in for a visit and a physical.
The Colts decided in March to not re-sign Wayne, who spent 14 seasons with the team,
Wayne has 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touch- downs in the regular season. He has 93 catches for 1,254 yards and nine touchdowns in playoff games

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston continued his string of strong practices Saturday.
Winston was close to flaw- less, completing 14 of his first 15 passes in 11-on-11 drills. Overall, Winston unofficially completed 16 of 20 passes in 11-on-11 drills.
In 7-on-7 drills, Winston completed 7 of 8 passes. Most importantly, Winston didn't throw a single interception and continues to impress the coaching staff.
"He's picked up the offense quicker than I anticipated," quarterbacks coach Mike Ba- jakian said.
Bajakian was asked what he wants to see out of Winston in Monday night's preseason game against Cincinnati.

"Progress," Bajakian said.
NFL Hall Of Famer Cris Carter Tells
Hall of Famer Cris Carter has apologized for comments advising players at the 2014 NFC rookie symposium to have a “fall guy” ready to ac- cept blame should they en- counter legal trouble.
“Seeing that video has made me realize how wrong I was,” Carter wrote Sunday night in a series of tweets. “I was brought there to educate young people and instead I gave them very bad advice. Every person should take re- sponsibility for his own ac- tions. I'm sorry and I truly regret what I said that day.”
Though the comments were made more than a year ago, the NFL did not take a stance until attention was called to video of Carter speaking at the event, which was originally

posted on NFL.com. It has since been removed. The NFL issued a response to Carter's original comments earlier Sunday.
“This was an unfortunate and inappropriate comment made by Cris Carter during the 2014 NFC rookie sympo- sium,” the NFL’s statement said.
GREENSBORO, NC — After Saturday’s third round of the Wyndham Championship, Tiger Woods, then two shots off the lead, talked about how he needed to “go and get it” on Sunday.
And if not for one dreadful, mistake-filled hole, Woods might have been able to “get it” and win his first PGA Tour event in more than two years. No. 11 took care of that in seven brutal strokes.
Woods’ season to forget ended at Sedgefield Country Club’s 486-yard, par-4, 11th hole, rated the toughest on the course. He will undoubtedly have nightmares about this one for a while. His massive crowd of followers, part of a sold-out crowd of more than 35,000, groaned with every Woods mis-hit on 11. He fol- lowed his triple bogey with an- other bogey on No. 12, and then birdied four of the final six holes.
Too little, too late.
Woods finished at 13-under
for the tournament, tied for 10th and four strokes behind the eventual winner, Davis Love III, who shot 6-under 64 to win by a stroke over third-round leader Jason Gore.
Love, 51, a North Carolina native, became a three-time winner of the Wyndham

Championship with his first PGA Tour victory in seven years. He also becomes the third-oldest winner of a PGA Tour event. Legendary Sam Snead was 52 when he won this tournament, then known as the Greater Greensboro Open, 50 years ago. Art Wall was 51 years, 7 months and 10 days when he won the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1975.
Woods said he had every chance to get it done on Sun- day.
“I had all the opportunity in the world to do it, but I didn’t get it done,” he said. “I had some makeable putts early that I missed. I just wasn’t able to get on any kind of roll early. ...Ihadasandwedgeinmy hand at 8 and didn’t make birdie there.
“I had my chances to get it going. I just never did.”

Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey needs ankle surgery, head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday.
The Steelers did not reveal a timetable for Pouncey's re- covery, or when the surgery will occur. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette, Pouncey has a broken bone requiring the op- eration.
Pouncey was carted off the field during the Steelers' Sun- day preseason game after his leg was rolled on from behind. In the same game, Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nel- son reportedly suffered a torn ACL.

Pouncey signed a five-year, $44 million contract with the Steelers in June of 2014.

Green Bay Packers Fear WR Jordy Nelson Suffered Torn ACL In Preseason Game
Receiver Jordy Nelson left in the first quarter of the Green Bay Packers' preseason game in Pittsburgh after crum- pling to the ground without contact on a leaping catch, a potential season-altering in- jury.
Nelson's initial diagnosis is a torn his ACL, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Net- work. The Packers are await- ing MRI results for confirmation, Rapoport tweeted.
The Packers confirmed Nel- son has a knee injury but of- fered no further details.
It would be a devastating in- jury for one of the team's most important players. Nelson had the best season of his ca- reer in 2014, following the

four-year, $39 million contract he signed entering training camp. He finished seventh in the NFL with 98 catches, fourth with 1,519 yards and tied for second with 13 touch- downs.
