Tampa Chapter FAMU Alumni Hosts ‘Meet And Greet’ For Incoming Freshmen, Returning Students
President Wendell Duggins and the members of The Tampa Chapter of the Florida A and M University National Alumni Association (FAMU NAA) invited FAMU stu- dents and their parents to a casual meet and greet event honoring Tampa Bay Area 2017 high school graduates who will be new Rat- tlers at FAMU this fall.
The event was held Saturday, July 22, 21017, at the H.O.P.E. Center. The agenda for the afternoon included: a welcome to the FA- MUly, acquaintance with local students and parents in order to make friends before they get to Tallahassee, exchange of contact infor- mation for network potentials and discover opportunities and available support, re- sources, events and services that the local Alumni Association makes available to them as they journey to the next level to their fu- ture while on “The Hill.”
All visiting students introduced them- selves, heard experiences of current, immedi- ate past and seasoned alumni, who shared their passion for and commitment to the uni- versity; shared valuable advice on classes, who to know, where to go, and what to do or not to do when they get to campus.
In addition, they were provided a technol- ogy care bag of goodies and witnessed some old school Rattler spirit and traditions as the chapter members executed FAMU’s motto “Excellence with Caring.”
Students and parents in attendance: Bre’Ana Coleman, Olivia Graham (par- ent, Michele Graham), Andreyne Fye (Jewell Fye), Regine Swanson (Jo- hanne Remy), Jonathan Rhodes (Verneka Rhodes), Hela Varman (Linzi Morris), Nicole Lewis, Adriel Solomon (Andy and LySaundra Solomon), Arayah Crumbley (Damien Crumbley), Devin Watkins (Angela Davison Watkins), Jaylyn Daniels (Beverly Daniels), Imani Wilson (Sonja Wil- son), Kelani Phelps (Dana Judge), Patrick Liburd (Jewel Gooden- Liburd), Willie R. Bell, III and William R. Bell (Barbara Garrett Bell), Jayla Brown (Jacqueline Brown), Phyllisity Walters (Phyllis Walters) and Destiny K. Beales (Ken Beales).
New students not in attendance were:
Kennedy Groce, Monique Keys, Deja Felix, Chris Faddoual, Bryce Moragne, Briianna Brown (sister, Shanna Davis Cato), Jayla Brown (King), Courtney Hodge, Ashontes Jones, Zaria Sanders (mother, Plakisia Allen-Wright), and Keshawn Spain (mother, Floretta Stew- art).
Returning students not in attendance:
Kamron Lewis, Christian Wise, Ar- mani Humbert, Taylor Craig, and Jas- mine Williams.
