University Community Day –
A Fun Day At The Park
The Hillsborough County Chapter of Bethune-Cookman University presents its first Bethune-Cookman University Community Day, August 19, 2017. This is a free-to-all event at Water Works Park, 1710 N. Highland Avenue, from 11 A. M. – 2 P. M.
The Community Day is a fun-filled event for families, friends and supporters to come out and enjoy a day of fun and relaxation. Free ad- mission to the Park, free backpacks and school sup- plies, free healthcare screen- ings, raffles, a talent show, music by DJ Bricks and much, much more!
Students may receive in- formation about Bethune - Cookman University and the steps one would take in en- rolling in the University. There will be a wide variety of

Some returning students were greeted by a new princi- pal on Thursday. These ap- pointments were made during the spring and after school closed in May 2017. It does not reflect all of the transfers and appointments that took place throughout the year.

Dawson Elementary School, created to relieve over population at schools in the Riverview area, opened its doors for the first time. Der- rick McLaughlin has relo- cated from Summerfield Elementary as its principal, to assume the duties of principal at Dawson Elementary School.
The school is named for Civil Rights Attorney War- ren Hope Dawson.
Two schools underwent changes to combine classes and become K-8 facilities.
The student population at Cahoon Elementary School and its neighbor, Van Buren Middle School were merged. Ovett Wilson assumed the role of principal at Cahoon- Van Buren K-8 School.
Ms. Chantel Angeletti
was chosen as the principal of Sulphur Springs K-8 School. The School district began
adding grades to the existing Sulphur Springs Elementary School three years ago.
