Tampa Bay Re-Takes Series Control In 2-0 Win
The Lightning will go back to Tampa Bay boasting a 3-2 se- ries lead after blanking the Rangers, 2-0, on Sunday night.
The New York Rangers re- main erratic during the Eastern Conference Final. They seem- ingly had momentum coming off a 5-1 win to tie the series against the Tampa Bay Light- ning, but a 2-0 loss Sunday night put the Lightning back in control of the series, giving them a 3-2 series lead.
The Lightning's defense stymied the Rangers. Goal- tender Ben Bishop had an easy time securing the shutout, thanks to his teammates. He faced 26 shots, but would have faced more if Lightning players hadn't blocked 24 shots on the night.
Valtteri Filppula and Steven Stamkos provided the scoring in the second period. Stamkos assisted Filppula's surgical wrister with 6:31 left in the period, before scoring on a power play tip-in five minutes later. Henrik Lundqvist faced just 22 shots, saving 20.
Bishop staved off several quality Rangers scoring chances late in the game to pre- serve his second career playoff shutout. The Lightning is on the verge of competing for the Stanley Cup as a result. A win in Game 6 in Tampa Bay will send the Lightning to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2004, when they won the title.

While other young adults will be preparing for summer activ- ities, one young lady will be in training. She was recently cho- sen to participate in the noto- riously challenging Olympics Qualifiers that will take place on June 22, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ms. Nakarri Jones has been training for this event for the past five years. She was re- cently chosen to attend the Men and Women’s U. S. Na- tional Competition, and re- ceived the Silver Medal in the 141 weight class.
When she reaches Colorado Springs, Ms. Jones plans to take her career to the next level as a female boxer. Her goal is to place within the top 3 to se- cure a place in the Olympic Tri- als.
“My ambition is to be part of the United States Olympic Boxing Team, and for that I train every day and work really hard in developing my skills.”
However, in order to partic- ipate in the Olympics Qualifier, the 20-year-old needs the help of the community. She is at- tempting to raise funds to help defray the cost of the trip.
To some, a professional fe- male boxer may be somewhat of a novelty. But, more and more women are becoming se- rious contenders. Ms. Jones is one of those women.
After deciding that she wanted to become a boxer, the young lady began training five years ago. Currently, she is training under the watchful eye of Coach Kelly Richardson, of Gymu Boxing and Justin

Mitchell, of Round 1 Boxing. She combines the science of the sport with the strength and conditioning exercises to reach the ultimate workout.
But, because she trains in a small gym that has designated non-profit status, it is more difficult to obtain donations. And, while she has the support of family and friends, Ms. Jones also needs help to cover the expenses.
She hopes the community will help her not only achieve her own goals and aspirations, but to represent her hometown in a positive way by being a contender in the Olympics. She needs to raise $5,000.
The daughter of Gary and Nakia Riley, Ms. Jones graduated from Jefferson High School. Her current amateur record is 22-6.

Myron Rolle Defends Jameis Winston, Says Bobby Bowden Off Base
WASHINGTON -- Former Florida State star Myron Rolle says Bobby Bowden was wrong to say Seminoles supporters believe Jameis Winston was an embarrass- ment to the school.
Rolle won a Rhodes scholar- ship while playing for Bowden at Florida State and has known Winston since the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback was in high school.
Bowden, 85, said last week during an interview on ESPN's The Paul Finebaum Show that he thought it is the "consensus among Florida State fans and boosters that (Winston) was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university."
Rolle said Tuesday that he doubts his former coach meant any harm, but that Bowden was off base.
"I didn't agree that Jameis was an embarrassment to FSU," Rolle said. "Anybody who meets him one on one, they'll realize just how good of a young man this is. How solid he is."
Rolle was in Washington to attend a meeting of the Knight

Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. Rolle, who is attend- ing medical school at Florida State, has been a member of the Knight Commission since last year.
He played defensive back at Florida State from 2006 to '08 and put off an NFL career for a year to study at the University of Oxford in England.
Rolle said perhaps Bowden got caught up in Winston's negative publicity.
"That's not who he is," Rolle said of Winston. "That's not who we are. Certainly Florida State fans didn't appreciate Coach's comments too much."
