Purse-Snatching Suspect Jumps In Water To Avoid Arrest
Three People Injured In Shooting At Nightclub
Last Tuesday, an unidentified assailant shot three people at the Class Act Nightclub.

On Saturday morning, a man reportedly snatched a woman’s wallet while in the parking lot of a hotel in Westshore, around 8 a. m. Police responded to the scene and were told by wit- nesses that the suspect ran to the Cypress Point Beach and jumped into Tampa Bay. Po- lice located 32-year-old De- wayne Dean.

Three people were injured last Tuesday night at a night- club in North Tampa. The victims had life-threatening injuries at the time of the shooting.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Class Act Nightclub, 14731 N. Florida Avenue, in reference to a shooting. When they ar- rived, they discovered that two victims were suffering
from life-threatening in- juries.
As the deputies continued their investigation, they dis- covered a third victim who was also suffering from life- threatening injuries. The vic- tims were transported to a local hospital.
Police have not released any additional information about the victims or the sus- pect. The investigation is con- tinuing.
Dean, he reportedly jumped into the water and started swimming to avoid going to jail.
Police said Dean swam out about 200 yards before giving up and being taken into custody. Tampa Police officers took a photograph of Dean standing in the water with his hands up in the air as the helicopter hovered right above him.
Dean was charged with robbery by sudden snatching and resisting officers without violence.
He was also arrested on warrants for battery (second or subsequent offense), ag- gravated battery on a preg- nant woman, and three probation violations for grant theft, fleeing to elude police at high speed, and possession of cocaine.

 1 Teenager Killed, 2 Seriously Injured In Stolen Car Crash

 One teenager died and two others were injured early Sunday when the car they were riding in crashed into the side of a building. The car was occupied by Keondrick Lang, 15, Mario Bonilla, 15, and 16-year-old Malachi Daniels.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the teenagers were in the neighborhood of 29th Street, N., and 58th Av- enue, N., pulling on door handles to see if the cars had been left open. When they approached the Maserati, they discovered the door was open and the keys were in- side. When the Maserati door opened, they jumped in.
A helicopter en route to another crime observed the teenagers getting into the ve- hicle and notified officers on the ground. The officers at- tempted to get to the location before they could drive off, but were unable to get there before the teenagers fled the

Police said Lang was
driving, Bonilla was in the front passenger seat, and Daniels was in the back seat. Police were not chasing the vehicle. However, once the teenagers discovered deputies in the area, they sped away as if they were being chased. The helicopter tracked the vehicle until it crashed into the building.
The Maserati collided with the side of a building along 62nd Ave. N. It then flipped over in the parking lot.
Bonilla died in the crash. The sheriff said Daniels may not survive.
Lang was hospitalized and is expected to survive.
The Maserati was a total loss. The investigation is con- tinuing.
