President Obama To Deliver Eulogy For Vice President Biden’s Son, Beau
President Signs Freedom Act Bill
President Barack Obama will deliver a eulogy Saturday at the burial of Vice President Joe Biden’s son Beau, who died of brain cancer last Saturday at 46.
The White House said that events for the former Delaware attorney general will begin Thursday, culmi- nating in a burial mass on Saturday.
Beau Biden died after undergoing treatment at the Walter Reed Medical Center just outside Washington. His death was another personal tragedy for the vice presi- dent, who early in his politi- cal career lost his first wife and a young daughter in a car crash.
His son will lie in honor and have a public viewing on Thursday and Friday.
On Saturday there will be a “Mass of Christian Burial” at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic church in Wilmington, Delaware.

President Barack Obama has signed the USA Freedom Act bill into law, re- instating the Patriot Act's controversial Section 215 but curbing some of the NSA's broad surveillance powers.
The bill was passed by the Senate following a political standoff. Although the House passed the bill last month, the Senate only was able to pass it one day after the Patriot Act's provisions expired, following a major debate where several pro- posed amendments to the Freedom Act were shot down.
The White House had pre- viously voiced support for the bill, and it was widely ex- pected that Pres. Obama

In an earlier statement, Beau Biden’s family said “he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage
and strength he demon- strated every day of his life.” The White House has opened an online book of condolence, as tributes have poured in from politicians at
home and abroad.
New York Is The Only State That Recognizes National Gun Violence Month

New York, NY –– For the third year Gun Violence Awareness Month (GVAM) will take place across New York during the month of June, highlighted by anti-violence events and advo- cacy efforts, and by proclamations from Mayors and County Executives, community leaders, clergy and activists, who will mark GVAM in their respective communities with heightened awareness and activities.
On June 10, 2015, thousands of New Yorkers across the state will wear orange, the universal theme color of peace that has been adopted to remember the lives lost and to amplify the clar- ion call for gun violence prevention as New York heads into the summer months. Elected officials, businesses, unions, student organizations and community groups will wear orange, and there will be events across the city and state.
Other highlights for GVAM will include PSA’s from city and state leaders, “Sermon Sundays” where ecumenical religious leaders, including preachers, rabbis and Imams across New York State have signed on to devote one Saturday or Sunday in their House of Worship to anti-violence, and proclamations, resolutions and letters of support from a range of elected offi- cials.
New York State is the only state in the nation to dedicate an entire month to the issue of gun violence prevention and aware- ness. In 2013 the first resolution unanimously passed the New York State Legislature naming June Gun Violence Awareness Month as part of a five year push to reduce gun violence across the State. The resolution was sponsored in the Assembly by for- mer State Assemblyman Karim Camara and in the Senate by State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson.
