Community Health Director Appointed To National Nutrition Committee

Dr. Leslene E. Gordon, PhD, RDN, LD, was appointed as a Member to the Committee for Public Health and Community Nutrition National Committee for Public Health and Community Nutrition for the 2015-2018 Acad- emy program year.
Dr. Gordon currently serves as the Com- munity Health Director at the Florida Depart- ment of Health in Hillsborough County.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world's largest organization of food and nu- trition professionals.
Members of the Academy play a key role in shaping the public's food choices, thereby in- volving its nutritional status, and in treating persons with illnesses or injuries. Members offer preventive and medical nutrition therapy services in a variety of settings.
As a leader in food and nutrition issues, the Academy provides expert testimony at hear- ings, lobbies Congress and other governmental bodies, comments on proposed federal and state regulations, and develops position state-
