For the past 13 years, Otis Anthony has been the host of the radio talk show “Sunday Forum” on WMNF 88.5FM radio. He an- nounced Wednesday that he’s retiring and turning the microphone over to Walter Smith, II.
“For the 13 years I hosted the show, it was a sacrifice having 2 hours of your Sun- day being dedicated to the public. It’s a very high level of commitment.
“I created the show with the idea of having a 2 hour talk show magazine. That was my concept. The idea was to make it a broad show that appealed to a large audi- ence of different races, ages, and cultures.”
Anthony said he pro- duced the show in a way that it could have been nationally syndicated.
“I think that Walter will be the perfect replacement because of the show’s format.
“It’s also time to pass the baton to the next generation.

“My intention at first was to take off for a year, but be- ginning this summer, this will be Walter Smith, II’s show.”
Anthony said he’ll con- tinue to give Smith support and drop by occasionally.
“My dream is to have a syndicated talk show and I will continue to strive for that to happen. I want to put more time into writing, pub- lishing my poetry, and get- ting involved more intensely on the hard issues facing people today.”
Smith said taking over the show is a real honor.
“I’m very excited, and this

will give me an opportunity to do something for the com- munity beyond the local lis- teners. I’ll be doing something very positive. It’s critical we have good radio, and I’m going to do my best to bring that to the show.
“I owe Otis a lot of grati- tude for doing this for me and I will make the best of this great opportunity.
“It’s on now! I’m flattered and honored that Otis thought of me in this capac- ity, and was confident I would be the best choice to replace him.”
The Sunday Forum Show is broadcast live from 10 a.m. until 12 p. m.
