Jameis Winston Finishes Buccaneers'
Buccaneers Claim Tim Wright Off Waivers From Patriots
OTAs As First-Team Quarterback
Tim Wright is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer again.
Wright, the tight end sent to New England in last year’s trade that brought Logan Mankinsto Tampa Bay, is now back with the Bucca- neers. The Patriots waived Wright yesterday, and the Bucs claimed Wright off waivers today.
The Bucs shipped Wright and a fourth-round draft pick to New England in August to acquire Mankins, who started all 16 games last year and is expected to start in Tampa again this year. Now he’ll share a huddle with Wright, who caught 26
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers finished their OTAs (organized team activities) with Jameis Winston as the first-team quarterback.
During OTAs, the No. 1 pick in the draft didn't look like a polished NFL quarter- back. That's because he isn't one. But the Buccaneers put Jameis Winston with the first team already because they want the growing process to play out quickly, Pat Yasinskas writes.
Winston was working with the second team during the session that was open to the media last week, but was with the starters Thursday. The Bucs close their offsea- son program with a manda- tory minicamp next week

and then are off until train- ing camp starts at the end of July.
The fact Winston was working with the first team is a sign the Bucs plan to go to camp with him as the starter. Coach Lovie Smith said Winston, the first overall pick in the draft, has made steady progress.
"Football is football, but it is different (from college)," Smith said. "The coverages he's seeing, barking out the plays and we're asking him to do things at the line of scrimmage. Just the overall play of the quarterback. You have to go through that process. He's handling it well."
But Winston and back- ups Mike Glennon and Seth Lobato were far from perfect as all three threw in- terceptions on Thursday.
"That's a good thing if you're talking defense," Smith said. "Offensively, of course, it's about ball protec- tion and securing the foot- ball and we didn't do a great job of that today."
Revis Won’t Be At Patriots Ring Ceremony At Home
DARRELLE REVIS
The Patriots are handing out Super Bowl rings at owner Robert Kraft’s house on Sunday night and former members of the team are invited to attend, which could have made for an awk- ward reunion with Darrelle Revis.
When asked about the Pa- triots and Deflategate re- cently, Revis, once more a member of the Jets, said that he felt people were “blowing it up” because of Tom Brady’s involvement while adding that the Patriots have “a history of doing stuff” while Brady was on the team and that the league “did what they needed to do” when things repeatedly happen.
Revis will not attend the event at Kraft’s home be- cause of a prior commitment that could not be changed. His mother will be attending in his place and picking up the hardware that Revis earned during his only year in New England.
If Revis is absent, he’ll have his first reunion with his former team on October 25 in Foxborough when the Jets visit the Patriots for their first of two meetings in the 2015 season.
TIM WRIGHT
passes for 259 yards and six touchdowns last season.
As a rookie in 2013, Wright was second on the Buccaneers with 54 catches for 571 yards and five touch- downs. Tampa would love to see that kind of production from him again this year.
Michael Sam Excused From Alouettes Camp On Eve Of First CFL Game
Tiger Gets Early Father’s Day Gift
On the eve of his team's exhibition opener against the Ottawa Redblacks, defensive end Michael Sam has left Montreal Alouettes training camp for personal reasons, the Canadian Football League team announced in a state- ment Friday.
Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, previously spent time with the St. Louis Rams, who released him last preseason, and the Dallas Cowboys as a member of their practice squad before being let go. He signed with the Alouettes in May.

checked in on Sunday night, picked up his player badge and showed off a Father's Day gift from his children.
Woods is now ranked
No. 195 in the world (which is insane when you think about it). But at least he has a pair of cute new headcovers from his kids, Charlie and Sam.
Adrian Peterson Greeted By Supportive Hometown
Brandon Spikes Cited By Police After Leaving Scene Of Accident
PALESTINE, Texas -- A thin banner welcomed Min- nesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson back to his hometown, with a mes- sage he took to heart this year.
"Welcome Home! We Got Your Back!" the banner read, declaring this the ninth an- nual "Adrian Peterson Day."
"I guess it's maybe a little different," Peterson said Saturday. "Definitely get some more encouraging words -- seeing the support. People, we're out here still supporting, who never stop supporting you. Yeah, it's a little different."
The banner was one of the many messages of sup- port for Peterson after a season in which he missed 15 games, having been placed on the Commissioner's ex- empt list after being indicted on charges of child abuse on his then-4-year-old son. Some here at Reagan Park felt Peterson had been un- fairly persecuted by those who didn't understand his

style of discipline. Some spoke appreciatively of Pe- terson's efforts in the Palestine community. One woman wanted Peterson's advice for her son, a 13-year- old running back from a nearby town.
Peterson walked past a series of welcome signs with his wife, Ashley -- who is expecting the couple's sec- ond child in the fall -- and fa- ther, Nelson, to a gazebo laced with Vikings purple. There he addressed a grow- ing crowd of family, friends and locals who watched his remarkable high school ca- reer unfold here in east cen- tral Texas.
BOSTON -- Massachu- setts State Police cited former New England Patriots line- backer Brandon Spikes on Friday with speeding, negli- gent driving and other motor vehicle offenses stemming from an accident earlier this week.
Spikes' damaged Mer- cedes was found abandoned on I-495 in Foxborough shortly before 3:30 a.m. ET Sunday. Police determined that he crashed into the back of a sport utility vehicle. Oc- cupants of that vehicle -- a man, woman and their 12- year-old son -- suffered minor injuries.
Authorities cited Spikes with speeding, operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger, leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in in- juries and failing to stay in marked lanes.
The Patriots released Spikes the day after the acci- dent. Neither Spikes nor his agent have commented.
Before he fled the scene,
BRANDON SPIKES Spikes was contacted by the
Mercedes onboard assistance service, which had detected a crash and called the vehicle. During that call, the driver re- ported that he had struck a deer, police said.
When troopers responded to the abandoned car, they said they found no evidence of a deer strike on or around the Maybach.
New England re-signed Spikes, who played for the Patriots from 2010 to 2013, to a one-year deal worth a max- imum value of $2 million on May 16. The only guaranteed money in the deal was a $25,000 signing bonus.
