Buccaneer kicker Kyle Brindza misses a field goal attempt.
Coming off their first win of the season against NFC South opponent, the New Orleans Saints, the Tampa Bay Bucca- neers hit the road again this past weekend to play the Houston Texans.
Rookie Buccaneer kicker Kyle Brindza missed three field goals and an extra point attempt in the team’s 19-9 loss, but the defense should be thrown under the bus right along with him, as well as the receivers who dropped a lot of pinpoint passes from Jameis Winston.
The defense allowed 186 rushing yards to the Texans
who were missing several of- fensive linemen and running back Arian Foster.
The Buccaneer running game never got started and the offense converted only of 12 third-down plays.
Winston finished the game completing 17-of-36 passes for 261 yards, and wide receiver Mike Evans caught only seven of the 17 balls thrown to him for 101 yards.
The Bucs will be playing at home this Sunday against the undefeated, and NFC South leading, Carolina Panthers.
Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. from Raymond James Stadium.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee Sunday and will miss four to six weeks as he recovers.

An MRI revealed the injury in the third quarter of a 12-6 win over the host St. Louis Rams did not include a tear of the ACL in the knee but did re- sult in a bone bruise, the source said.
Steelers coach Mike Tom- lin did not provide specifics after the game. Pittsburgh was planning on Roethlisberger being out for six weeks.
TOM BRADY
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Tom Brady's milestone touchdown pass highlighted the New England Patriots' 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
Brady threw his 400th ca- reer regular-season touchdown pass, becoming only the fourth player in NFL history to reach that milestone. It came late in the second quarter on a 1-yard toss to receiver Danny Amen- dola. The Gillette Stadium crowd chanted "Brady! Brady! Brady!" shortly there- after.

Cam Newton: Ref Ed
Michael Vick said stepping into the situation he finds him- self in, replacing the injured Ben Roethlisberger as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback, is something he was born to do.
And don’t expect the short week to bother him as the Steelers host the 0-3 Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
“I’ve got plenty of confidence; I feel like this is what I was born to do,” said the 35-year- old Vick, who is in his 15th season. “I’m not a young guy anymore; I’m a seasoned vet- eran.
“It’s a short week, but we’re all professionals. Just got to get in (Monday) and grind. It’s still my normal routine.”
Vick stepped in and helped the Steelers hang onto a 12-6 win over the Rams.
“If (Vick) plays this week, he’s got a full week of prepara- tion,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “My standard of expectation would be a little different under those circum-

above the line today. He got us out of the stadium.’’
Vick called Roethlisberger the “centerpiece” of the team.
“Ben’s a guy we all look up to in this locker room, but I was brought here for a reason,” Vick said. “I’ve just got to hold the spot until Ben comes back.”
'Old Enough' To Get Call
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Car- olina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was "ticked off" about being told he wasn't old enough to get a personal foul called after being hit out of bounds in Sunday's 27-22 victory over New Orleans.
Newton, 26, thought a penalty could have been called early in the fourth quarter when he was hit hard near the out-of-bounds marker by de- fensive tackle Tyeler Davi- son after throwing an incompletion.
When the two-time Pro Bowler asked referee Ed Hochuli about the call, New- ton said he was told, "You're not old enough to get that call."
"I looked at him like: 'Jesus! I didn't think you had to have seniority to get a personal foul or anything like that,'" New- ton said.
"Officials make decisions based upon the play on the field, and no other factors," NFL spokesman Michael Signora said in a statement. "On the play in question, there is no roughing the passer be- cause the quarterback is out of

the pocket and a runner, and no unnecessary roughness be- cause the contact is not late."
That the Panthers were pe- nalized for a late hit on 34- year-old Saints quarterback Luke McCown earlier in the game didn't help matters.
"It's one thing to be frus- trated in a situation where you see a personal foul on the op- posing quarterback get called," Newton said. "And then for me, when it's something around that same range and for that flag not to be called, I'm ticked off, really."
SEATTLE -- Seahawks run- ning back Marshawn Lynch left in the third quarter of Sun- day's 26-0 win over the Chicago Bears with a ham- string injury.

Jimmy Graham was a key element to the Seahawks of- fense as Seattle got into the win column by beating the Bears.
Coach Pete Carroll said afterward he doesn't have a timetable for Lynch's return, but indicated it's not an issue that will keep him out for an extended period of time.
