MR. JAMES L. HILL
Mr. James L. Hill, of Tampa, FL passed away on March 16, 2022. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 Lowe Street, Tampa, FL. 33605, Mr. Simuel Howard, officiating. MASK REC- OMMENDED. Interment will fol- low in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. James L. Hill was born in Eufaula, Alabama, and a resident of Tampa for over 40 years. He at- tended Alabama A&M and was a member of Mount Olive AME Church. He was employed as a Waste Management Supervisor for the City of Tampa until he re- tired.
He was proceeded in death by: his parents, Jesse and Ethel Hill, siblings, Georgia Allen, Patrice Hill, Charles Hill, James Earl Hill, Thomas Hill, and Betty Morgan.
Mr. James Lester Hill leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Annie Ruby Albury (Russell), Darlene Slayton (Terry), Merry Givens; brother, Jesse Hill (Alesha); daughters, Rotonda Speer Booden, Crystal Plummer (Shel- don); sons, James Hill (Demika), David Hill (Melissa); grandkids, James Hill, Candace Hill, Jamaya Hill, Sherman Alleyne, Kardae Gainous (Kaila), Kalissa Gainous, Adrian Hill, David Hill and DeAnna Plummer; great grand- children, Jaxon Gainous and Roman Gainous; a host of devoted nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

MR. JULIUS ‘TOP CAT’ COUNCIL HODGES, JR.
Mr. Julius “Top Cat” Council Hodges, Jr., of Tampa, was called home to the Lord on March 16, 2022. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Clergy Bruce Bryant officiating. MASK RECOMMENDED. Inter- ment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Julius was born in Tampa, FL December 4, 1945, to the late Essie Mae Riley. He was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and gradu- ated from Middleton High School in 1964. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1966 until he was honorably discharged in 1969.
He was employed as an auto mechanic with Hillsborough County Emergency Medical Serv- ices for many years until his re- tirement in 2002.
He was a devoted, caring, and loving husband to his wife of 46 years, supportive father, and proud Papa. Julius was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Sav- ior.
He was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Deborah J. Hodges; mother, Essie Mae Riley; father, Rudolphus A. Riley, Sr.; and brother, Kenneth Council.

MRS. ALICE Z. JACKSON
Mrs. Alice Z. Jackson of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully sur- rounded by her family on Wednes- day, March 16, 2022. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Gar- den of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610. Interment immediately fol- lowing.
Alice was born on March 24, 1937, in Woodbine, GA. She spent her high school years in Daytona Beach, where she met and married Lester Jackson.
She relocated to Tampa and was a resident for 66 years. As a young adult, Alice worked as a wait- ress at night while earning her nursing certificate. She gained em- ployment as a Certified Nurse’s As- sistant at Tampa General Hospital and retired there after 33 years of service.
Alice was a diehard sports fan and a fantastic cook. She loved working in her garden, playing Po- keno with her friends, decorating for all holidays and eating good seafood. She was a very kind- hearted person and greeted every- one with a smile.
In her later years, Alice enjoyed traveling with her family and watching the Game Show Network. Her most precious times were spent with her daughters, grand- children, and great grands.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Geneva Rudolph and Mertie Bell Popwell; husband, Lester Boyd Jackson; sister, Annie (Laura) Gilmore; brother, Master Chief, U. S. Navy, Albert James Sul- livan; grandson, Robert Miller, Jr.; 2 nieces, Kimberley Sullivan and Michelle Shackleford; grand- nephew, Andre Gilmore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Alice is survived by: 3 daugh- ters, Pamela, Deborah and Cynthia Jackson; 5 devoted grandchildren, Michael Davis (Ieisha Williams), Horace Barnes, Herbert Herds (Dadriana Baron), Nicole Burks and Kiara Herds; 6 adoring great grandchildren, Jacquez and Jack- son Davis, Troi Barnes, Christian Mattear, Jamario and Jamar Hay- wood; 1 sister, Virginia (Gail) Sulli- van of Port Lucie, FL; 1 sister-in-law, Rear Admiral, U. S. REV. LONNIE E. MILLS
Rev. Lonnie E. Mills of Tampa, Florida passed away on March 17, 2022. Funeral Services will be con- ducted Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 2 p.m. at New Greater Friend- ship Missionary Baptist Church, 3325 E. Emma Street, Tampa, FL 33610, with Bishop R. L. Neal offi- ciating and Pastor Benny McCloud delivering the eulogy. MASK REC- OMMENDED. Interment will fol- low in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Rev. Mills was born to the late Sophia Hemphill and George Mills on July 8, 1945. He was a native of Slate Springs, Mississippi, and a longtime resident of Tampa for over 40 years and recently Naples for 10 years.
He received his Master of The- ology degree from the Florida The- ological Seminary and Cultural Institute in 2007. He was a mem- ber of the Naples Police Depart- ment as Chaplain. Rev. Mills is the former Pastor of Shiloh Mission- ary Baptist Church in Mulberry, Florida for 15 years and most re- cently serving as Pastor of Mace- donia Missionary Baptist Church in Naples, Florida.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Sophia Hemphill and George Mills; 2 sisters, Elmira McElwee, and Bunia Dailey; 1 brother, Willie Roger Mills.
He leaves to cherish his mem- ory: his wife of 50+ years Josie L. Mills; 7 sons, Lonnie S. Mrs. Hanley was a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and a resi- dent of Tampa for 20 years. She attended L.L.T. Academy, Riverview High School, Univer- sity of Tampa and Concorde In- stitute. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Advent Health.
