Eric was born on February 11, 1929, in Simon, Jamaica, West In- dies, to the parentage of Adolphus Actable and Amanda Brown. An adventurous man, he worked in the sugar and construction indus- tries, and did backyard farming to provide for his family while living in Jamaica.
He moved to the U. S. in 1971 as a farm worker and later took up residency and settled down in Tampa,
Florida, where he purchased a house while working at TECO. He eventually moved his children to the United States, a crowning achievement of his life, as he be- lieved that gave them the best op- portunity to realize their dreams. After retiring from TECO, he en- joyed his backyard farming, cook- ing for family and friends, watching wrestling and shouting at the TV, as well as spending time at the dog-racing track with his buddies. He was most happy when his children and grandchildren would visit and pray with him to thank God for His favor and bless- ings, and for the salvation of his soul.
