takes possession of that house and sells it for less than what the children could have made from a sell if they had done right.
towards them. There are some who do not think that God will punish them for their sins and actions because we have the New Testament grace. Don't think that because you have grace God will not make you answer for your wickedness! If you do not want to hear words of punish- ment and experience the wrath of God's anger, then do what is right!
filled it with sin and ruined it completely. God hear evicts the people from their land. God will no longer allow you to live in a land of peace and joy. Because they do not want to love accord- ing to His standards He sends them to live in the land of those they choose to live by. Recall your days of growing up. How many times did your parents tell you, "This was their house and you will live by their rules and if you couldn't then you need to find somewhere else to live!"
God's plan to repay the people for the evil they have inflicted upon the innocent. God has blessed every step of the way and every day since their day of deliv- erance yet they continued to do wrong. God frowned upon their evil ways that were committed against their own brothers. Nothing hurts more than a pain inflicted by a person who is sup- posed to love you. God is not pleased and does not sit idle and allow it to continue. These verses tell of God's plan. The text used for this review is the New Living Translation.
going to allow the enemy to taunt the unrighteous in Israel. The people are going to make up songs about them to remind them of the punishment they re- ceived for their actions. Some of the things you hear and see in the world today are unpleasant re- minders of the consequences for sinful living. God has taken what they gained through treachery and dishonesty and has given it to their enemies.
Verses 6 - “Don’t say such things,” the people respond. “Don’t prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!” The people are telling the prophet not to prophe- cize. They don't like what he is saying. Not wanting to hear God's word is what got them in trouble. This is many people's re- sponse when a word of destruc- tion comes as a result of sinful living and choices. People are quick to proclaim, "The devil is a liar" or "I rebuke that". If God is sending you a message about what your punishment is because you are living wickedly you can deny it and not receive it but it shall happen!
Verses 8, 9 - Yet to this very hour my people rise against me like an enemy! You steal the shirts right off the backs of those who trusted you, making them as ragged as men returning from battle. You have evicted women from their pleasant homes and forever stripped their children of all that God would give them. The prophet reiterates their wickedness. God is serious about the treatment of the poor. God is serious about the abuse of power. A church and a nation will have to answer when it feels that it can abuse the poor and less fortunate because it has the power to do so.
Verse 11 - Suppose a prophet full of lies would say to you, “I’ll preach to you the joys of wine and alco- hol!” That’s just the kind of prophet you would like! God gave them a prophet who spoke the truth and words that would correct them and give them warning from destruction but they rejected that prophet. So God says I will give a prophet who you will like. A prophet who will speak words that will keep you bound and oppressed; a word that will make you think that you are living right when you are really on your way to hell. A real prophet does not rubber stamp what is right in your eyes;
Verse 4 - In that day your enemies will make fun of you by singing this song of despair about you: “We are finished, completely ruined! God has confiscated our land, taking it from us. He has given our fields to those who betrayed us.” God is
Verse 5 - Others will set your boundaries then, and the LORD’s people will have no say in how the land is di- vided. The land and property that they stole from their broth- ers will be divided by the enemy and they will not have any say how it is divided. Think about a house that has been left to sib- lings. They argue and mistreat one another over material things and in the process they lose the house. The bank or government
Verse 7 - Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the LORD’s Spirit have patience with such behav- ior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting. The prophet is now in the head of the people. The people who are hearing this word do not want to believe that God will act this way
Verse 10 - Up! Be gone! This is no longer your land and home, for you have
