Working Mom Offers Simple Tips On Shuffling Kids, Job, Home
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
As a former journalist, it may seem simple for Colette Glover- Hannah to pen tips to moms about how to manage parenting, home and business. That’s just what she has done.
Glover-Hannah recently re- leased a new book, Mompreneur: Managing Partnerships, Parent- hood and Presentations. The book is co-authored by mompreneurs from around the country. It is being used by the continent of Africa to share with mom business owners.
The Founder and CEO of Han-
nah’s Shoebox, a global online shoe store for girls who wear women’s size shoes, Mrs. Hannah talks about how she managed to shuffle home, work and children.
The mother of 3 said she tells small business owners “to use your resources. Locally, we have the Small Business Administration and the Centre For Women Business Center that can provide help. I do tell the moms to take that leap and have faith...because it is not an easy journey. We can cry on each other’s shoulders and celebrate each other,” she said.
When it comes to mixing busi- ness and motherhood, Mrs. Han- nah says, “We often talk about the
‘village.’ This is the time to use the village; be a parent in rotation. Sometimes you may have to reach out to Grandma, Grandpa or uncle to pick the kids up or take them to a practice while you take care of the business.
“On occasions I’ve had to leave the family for a meeting with a client about the business. And, there’ve been times I had to say ‘no to business. We do have to make hard decisions.
“And, if you don’t have family locally, create your own village.”
The book is available at www.mompremeurbook.org and on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle.
