 Free Clinic Celebrates Third Anniversary
Founded in 2015, at the height of the Affordable Care Act regulations, the Calvary Community Clinic recently celebrated its third anniver- sary of service to the Hills- borough County community.
In response to the grow- ing uninsured population in the East Tampa community, Mount Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church estab- lished the free clinic to bring hope, healing and help to the primary community it serves. Within the 33604, 33605, 33610 and 33612 zip codes, 40% of the popula- tion has no health insurance and 25% live below the poverty line.
Through challenges and triumphs, the free clinic re- mains relevant, engaged and a vital healthcare resource to
the uninsured, unemployed, underserved and undocu- mented.
The clinic is committed to meeting the healthcare needs of anyone who cannot
afford medical care, regard- less of gender, age, religion, ethnicity or national origin,
and presently serves as the medical home of over 1,200 residents of the Greater Tampa Bay Region.
The clinic is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization sus- tained through volun- teerism, church and community partnerships, and professional support personnel who have a heart for and are willing to give back to the community.
The clinic is recruiting volunteers and if you are an active or retired physician, nurse or other healthcare provider, and would like to volunteer just two hours per month, call Marcellina Adonis at 813-238-6000 for more information.
Calvary Community Clinic is located at 3401 East Louisiana Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
