Tampa’s Quentin Williams Is Bethune-Cookman StudentAthlete Of The Week; Face Savannah State Saturday
Alcorn State And Tuskegee Continue To Top The Charts In NAIA Poll After Week 3
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Quentin Williams was se- lected as this week’s Home- wood Suites Student-Athletes of the Week, announced Mon- day afternoon by the B-CU Of- fice of Athletic Commu- nications. For both student- athletes, this week’s award is the first of its kind on the 2015-16 athletic year.

secutive week, Williams helped orchestrate a victory
for the Wildcats, registering 168 yards on 14-of-19 passing. His game-high 168 yards marked back-to-back weeks with at least 150 passing yards. On the ground, Williams tallied 63 rushing yards on 15 attempts, includ- ing a breakout for 30 yards. For the first time this season, he was not sacked, as the of- fensive line did a tremendous effort for him.
Williams and his BCU teammates will square off against Savannah State on Saturday at 4 p.m in Daytona Beach.
Tuskegee’s Alcorn State’s
Hartly, DE – Alcorn State University and Tuskegee Uni- versity held on to the top spots following the third full week of HBCU football action. The Braves of ASU remained in the top FCS position while TU’s Golden Tigers were unani- mously picked #1 in Divi- sionII/NAIA HSRN Football Polls.
In the Division I FCS poll, Al- corn State celebrated “Family and Friends Day” by demolish- ing Mississippi Valley State, 55- 14, in their home opener at Spinks-Casem Stadium.
North Carolina A&T moved up to second place followed by
South Carolina State, South- ern and Bethune-Cookman.
In Division II, Tuskegee’s 28- 13 win over Winston-Salem State left no doubt about their strength in the division. The Golden Tigers are undefeated and captured all the first place votes of the HSRN pollsters.
Virginia Union and Virginia State tied for second place lead- ing a strong representation for the CIAA. Elizabeth City has moved into third place fol- lowed by Bowie State and Liv- ingstone. Chowan enters the poll at #7 following their stun- ning defeat of Delaware State, 31-30, in Dover.
FAMU Hopes To Win In First Home Game Of The Season
Florida A&M finally plays its first home game Saturday against Tennessee State at what is being billed the Hall Of Fame Game, after a rough three-game road trip to start the season. The Rattlers are 0- 3 and have a lot off-field prob- lems to fix before debuting at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
The Rattlers were blown out in all three games to start the season, including a 36-0 shutout loss in at South Car- olina State on ESPNU Thurs- day. It was the first time FAMU failed to score since losing 76-0 to Ohio State in 2013.

and haven’t thrown a touch- down pass.
FAMU is one of eight teams in all of FCS football without a touchdown pass this season.
HBCU Coaches And Media Polls Vote Alcorn State #1 Too
Split vote for third straight week; Alcorn prevails once again with coaches, North Carolina A&T with media.
In a week when only two top-10 teams fell, Alcorn State remained No. 1 in the BOX- TOROW coaches poll.
Tennessee State fell to FCS No. 1 Jacksonville State and fellfromNo.1toNo.4inthe BOXTOROW media poll .
North Carolina A&T with its 14-7 victory over Elon is now No. 1 with the media.
In the coaches poll last
week, five teams received at least one first-place vote with Alcorn receiving the most with eight. The Braves had full support this week as they claimed all but one of the 17 first-place votes.
N.C. A&T remained No. 2 while South Carolina State claimed the other first-place vote and climbed up two spots to No. 3. Southern also moved up two spots and is No. 4, while Bethune-Cookman climbed one spot and rounds out the top five.
In the media poll where N.C. A&T and Tennessee State both received seven first-place votes last week, the Aggies re- ceived eight votes this week, four more than No. 3 Alcorn State. No. 2 South Carolina State received two first-place votes and despite its loss, Ten- nessee State received two first-place votes and is No. 4.
Southern made the most significant jump, up three spots and rounds out the top five.
