Josh Freeman Is Taking Another Unexpected Turn
Hockey’s Most Hated Player And One Of The Few Blacks Is One Of The Most Generous
Russell Wilson Visits Hospital, Accepts Proposal To Be Young Girl's Godfather
Freeman will play for a minor league team in the Fall Experimental Football League, the league announced Tues- day.
Freeman, a first-round draft choice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009, was re- leased earlier this month by the Miami Dolphins and has- n't taken a regular-season snap since Oct. 21, 2013, while with the Minnesota Vikings. He was out of football in 2014.
The FXFL will open its sec- ond season next month. Last year, it paid players about $1,000 per week. Freeman

has been assigned to the Brooklyn Bolts franchise, which will play its first game on Oct. 2.
Seattle Seahawks star Rus- sell Wilson is—among other things—a son, a boyfriend, a quarterback and a Super Bowl champion.
Godfather can now be added to the list.
Wilson recently made a trip to Seattle Children's Hospital to spend some time with fans. While he was there, a young girl asked him to be her godfa- ther.
Of course he said yes.
As much fun as it is to watch Wilson on the field, it's even

cooler to see him spending his free time doing things like this.
Seahawks’ Star Safety Chancellor Decides To End Holdout
P.K. SUBBAN
Montreal Canadiens defense- man P.K. Subban is one of the most hated players in the NHL, and he is also one of the most generous.
According to CBC News, Sub- ban will donate $10 million to the Montreal Children's Hospi- tal Foundation over the next seven years. The donation will be used to fund P.K.'s Hands, which will help families that are struggling financially to provide medical care for their children.
Last year Subban, 26, signed an eight-year, $72 million con- tract with the Canadiens.
Subban, who is one of the few black players in the NHL, is also a "candidate to be named captain of hockey's most storied franchise,"The Sporting News reports.
In 2013 Sports Illustrated named Subban the most hated player, but now the hospital atrium bears his name as a show of gratitude for his donation.
"As I was walking out of the back room, I noticed the P.K. Subban lettering up there and I got goosebumps," Subban said, CBC News "It's not too many times I get goosebumps in what I do, playing hockey for a very long time in front of a lot of peo- ple. That's probably the only time I got goosebumps in a long time," he said.
The hospital called the dona- tion "the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history," according to CBC News.
Giants Star DE Jason Pierre-Paul May Have To Take Action Against Team
Giant fans and sportswrites are trying to make sense of the Jason Pierre-Paul situation. Most believe it could make sense for JPP to take action against the Giants within the confines of the labor deal.
It is being said that an inde- pendent doctor could make the call on when Pierre-Paul, the former USF standout, is ready to play.
That would happen only after Pierre-Paul files a griev- ance against the team for fail- ing to agree that he’s ready to play. And that possibility un- derscores the point recently: The player’s doctor thinks he’s ready, the team’s doctors think Pierre-Paul isn’t.
The team’s doctors quite possibly are influenced by the fact that clearing Pierre-Paul to play means that the team employing the doctors will be paying JPP more than $870,000 per week. If Pierre- Paul files a grievance (it would actually be a “non-injury griev-

ance” under the Collective Bar- gaining Agreement) and wins, the Giants would be forced to take him back.
Mechanically, the process likely would start with Pierre-Paul signing his $14.8 million franchise tender. Oth- erwise, the Giants could yank the tender immediately after the independent doctor says the player is ready to go.
That still could be Pierre- Paul’s primary objective.
Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor has real- ized that his holdout isn’t working.
After skipping all of training camp, the preseason and the first two regular-season games without the Seahawks giving him the money he wants, Chancellor now says he will return to Seattle. Here’s what Chancellor texted Stephen A. Smith, as relayed by Adam Schefter:
“Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t. God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance . I can address business after the sea-

son. Me and Marshawn started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down....Real talk.”
Now he’s coming back, and his return should make the Seahawks’ defense a lot better.
