For several years, the name of Motown Maurice was well-known throughout the Tampa Bay Area. The young man created a forum in 2007 that became popular and included panelists to discuss various topics.
Known as “Wide aWoke Wednesdays,” it drew a large following. Maurice decided to relocate to California in pursuit of his dreams. This weekend, the enterprising young man will come home for the 10-year Anniversary
of “Wide aWoke Wednes- days.”
“Wide aWoke Wednes- days” was a monthly forum with a panel that focused on discussing current events, and popular topics affecting African Americans. Maurice hosted the show for 2-1/2 years.
Maurice said, “I just want the community to know the greatness and sig- nificance of “Wide aWoke Wednesdays” and that it is due for a celebration. Those who were impacted by it or involved can come out and celebrate. Anyone wishing to

The gathering is a semi- private celebration to reunite those active in the event be- tween 2007 and 2009. It will take place on Saturday, De- cember 30th, from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Those wish- ing to attend must email Maurice at wideawokere- union@yahoo.com.
After graduating from Leto High School, Maurice continued his education at Florida A & M University, where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
While establishing himself as in Tampa, he worked as a videographer and photogra- pher.
Today, the 37-year-old has established himself in the entertainment industry.
In addition to reuniting program participants and panelists, the reunion will also include a special memo- rial honoring participants who have passed away. Those honorees include James Evans, Ms. Sharon Pierre, Ms. Shawna Williamson, Jetie B. Wilds, and Dr. Harriet B. Boyd.
