Police Investigating Report Of Rape At Tommy Armstrong Jr.'s Home
Police are investigating a re- port of a rape that allegedly oc- curred at the home of Nebraska quarterback Tommy Arm- strong Jr.
Police say a 20-year-old- woman reported the incident after arriving at a Lincoln hos- pital Sunday afternoon.
Armstrong told the Omaha World-Herald that police came to his home to interview him, roommate wide receiver Jor- dan Westerkamp and an- other teammate, tight end Trey Foster. It's unknown whether anyone else was at the house.
The suspect has not been named by police, and no ar- rests have been made.
Huskers quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. said that after he and two team- mates spoke to police, an offi- cer said, "You guys should be
fine."
The woman told police she
knows the suspect, and police spokeswoman Katie Flood said that person has been con- tacted.

Coach Mike Riley said he learned of the police investiga- tion Tuesday morning.
"I would like to have known earlier," Riley said.
Riley said he has talked with Armstrong, Westerkamp and Foster. No players were held out of practice Tuesday, the Huskers' first workout of this bye week.
"We will follow exactly what the policies are within the ath- letic department and our uni- versity," the coach said.

It’s a Classic showdown! His- toric rivals Florida A&M Uni- versity and Bethune-Cookman University meet on the gridiron for the 36th time since 1979. Will B-CU keep the title after four consecutive wins since 2011 or will FAMU break the Wildcats’ losing streak and re- cover the title?
This Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will begin a two- game road trip when they travel to the city of brotherly love to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
Buccaneer head coach Lovie Smith is pleased with the progress the team has made, but is also concerned about injuries to some key players.
Coming off a hard fought 10- 6 victory over the Dallas Cow- boys, Bucs rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, and run- ning back Doug Martin, con- tinue to be the bright spots on the offense.
Defensively, the Bucs dis- played a true grit against the Cowboys that put smiles on the faces of the entire coaching staff.
It appears the Bucs will be facing backup quarterback Mark Sanchez this Sunday as Sam Bradford is still nursing injuries.
Both teams have 4-5 records
and will be looking to balance their records with a victory Sunday. This will be the fourth NFC East team in a row the Bucs will be facing. So far, they are 1-2 against the NFC East.
Winston will be trying to lead the team to consecutive wins for the first time this sea- son. The Eagles are coming off a close 20-19 loss against the Miami Dolphins.
On the Bucs injury report are wide receiver Vincent Jackson, defensive end George Johnson, guard Ali Marpet, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, center Evan Smith, defensive end Jacquies Smith, and safety Major Wright.

California University Coach Questions How HBCU Team Made It To Playoffs
Raiders Linebacker Aldon Smith Suspended 1 Year By NFL
Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith has been sus- pended for one year without pay under the NFL's sub- stance-abuse policy, the league said Tuesday.
In September, Smith, 25, pleaded not guilty to misde- meanor counts of hit-and-run, drunken driving and vandal- ism, charges that stem from an alleged Aug. 6 incident.
"Under the terms of the pol- icy, Smith will be eligible to apply for reinstatement no sooner than 60 days before the one-year anniversary of the suspension," the NFL said in a statement.

announced in the wake of Smith's fifth arrest since 2012. He was released by the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 7.
Bowie State is one of three HBCU schools to make the Di- vision II playoffs and California University head coach Mike Kellar is not happy about it.
Cal (8-3) beat Lock Haven 56-24 last Saturday to finish the regular season with four straight wins. The late season surge was not enough for the Vulcans to reach the postseason out of the Super Region 1.
Bowie State, who finished the season with a 9-1 record and a loss in the CIAA championship game to Winston-Salem State, received an at-large bid even though the Bulldogs played most of the 2015 season with an ineligible player to the chagrin of Kellar.
“I’ll just never understand how a team could be 9-1 and have played an ineligible player (and still get into the postsea- son),” Kellar told the Ob- server-Reporter. “I don’t know what message that sends. I just really believed the NCAA would step in and do the right thing.”
Quarterback Matthew Gog- gans started the first five games of the season before being ruled ineligible and the school self-reporting to the NCAA.
Kellar told the newspaper that the ruling was problematic allowing an team to be re- warded for competing with an ineligible player.
Giants Re-Sign WR Hakeem Nicks
Former New York Giants first-round pick Hakeem Nicks has re-signed with the team to take the roster spot va- cated by wide receiver Victor Cruz, the Giants announced Tuesday.
As Cruz goes on injured re- serve with a calf injury, the Gi- ants are bringing back his old friend and mentor.
"This is home," Nicks said in comments distributed by the team. "You know what they say, 'Let a dog roam, and he’ll find his way home.' They left the backdoor open for me."
Nicks, who is still just 27 years old, was a key contribu- tor to their Super Bowl XLVI title team.
His past few NFL seasons, however, have not gone well. Nicks had 56 catches for 896 yards and zero touchdowns for the Giants in 2013, and the Gi-

ants did not re-sign him after that year.
Nicks caught just 38 passes for 405 yards and four touch- downs last season after signing a one-year deal with the Indi- anapolis Colts.
He spent training camp this year with the Tennessee Titans but was among the final cuts and has worked out for several teams since.
