LeBron James Passes Jerry West As No. 19 On NBA Scoring List
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- LeBron James continued his climb up the NBA's all- time scoring list by passing Jerry West for No. 19th, with 25,193 career points, on Tuesday.
James entered the night needing 10 points to pass "The Logo." He got them early and eclipsed West with a corner 3- pointer with 2:55 remaining in the first quarter of the Cleve- land Cavaliers' 104-99 loss to the Detroit Pistons. James finished with 30 points.
"Obviously, every single day, that's what we all represent," James said. "We all represent The Logo. You know, everyone

like himself, it's an honor, an honor for sure. I know how much he did for the game, what he meant to the game. You know, I had an opportu- nity to read his book. I had an opportunity to actually talk to him a few times. ... It's pretty cool."
West played 932 games over 14 seasons to reach his career point total. James reached the mark in his 922nd game and as a 13-year veteran.

Rockets Fire Coach Kevin McHale
The Houston Rockets have fired Kevin McHale, the coach told reporters on Wednesday.
Assistant J.B. Bickerstaff will serve as interim coach.
"We're hanging our head," McHale said after the Rockets lost to the Boston Celtics on Monday. "Things aren't going our way and we hang our head. Bottom line, we haven't put to- gether really good basketball, all year."The Rockets are 4-7 this season, including a current four-game losing streak that prompted a players-only meet- ing at the Toyota Center on Tuesday morning. The Rockets have failed to reach 100 points during their losing streak -- the team's longest since 2013 -- and are averaging 20 fewer points in their losses overall this season.
McHale, in his fifth season with the team, was in the first year of a three-year extension worth more than $12 million that he signed last December. He was coming off a 56-26 sea- son where the Rockets reached the Western Conference finals for the first time since 1997. Ac-

cording to the Elias Sports Bu- reau, the last returning NBA head coach to lead his team to the conference finals and then not make it through the follow- ing season was Stan Van Gundy of the Heat. Van Gundy resigned 21 games into the 2005-06 season, and then Pat Riley took over and led that team to a championship.
McHale was hired by the Rockets before the 2011-12 sea- son. He was 193-130 overall with the team, including three straight trips to the playoffs. The Rockets had improved every season under his tenure going into this season.
