Funeral/Card Of Thanks/Memoriam
WOODY’S
MEMORIAL SERVICE
IN REMEMBRANCE OF
EARLIEST “MR. WILL” WILLIAMS
Thank You Jesus, That’s What He’s Done
Most recently, Kim Burrell released a new CD, ‘From A Different Place’ and has a dynamic single entitled ‘Thank You, Jesus (That’s What He’s Done for Me)’. Burrell’s story and testimony declares “He’s done so much for me, I can’t tell it all; And when I think of the blessings bestowed upon me, I have no choice; He is gonna get my praises.” Thank You Jesus (That’s What He’s Done).
Well, The Williams’ family has a testimonial story to tell, too. It is about how that God of ours stepped into our dark- ness/sorrow and brought light/joy into our lives - “in a mo- ment and in a twinkling of an eye!’’ Retrospectively, on November 21, 1971, our daddy entered eternal life at age 59; the next day, November 22, we celebrated our Mama’s 49th birthday! With God’s grace, she lived another twenty years before Christ called her home too!
‘Thank You Jesus - That’s What He’s Done’ – for US!
During the Thanksgiving holiday, we will focus on our blessings and express our gratitude to God for our parents, friends, family, others.
Yes, true thanksgiving is remembering what God has done; telling others about it; showing God’s glory to others, and offering gifts of self, time and resources. When thanks- giving becomes an integral part of your life, you will find that your attitude toward life will change. You will become more positive, gracious, loving, and humble. Thus, every day thanksgiving is on our lips!
Well, this is our family’s story and we are “sticking to it!” ‘Thank You Jesus, That’s What He’s Done’ - for Us!
To those who remain, the question is, what is your story; is Jesus in it; and what has He done for you to give thanks?
Good night Daddy, we will see you in the morning... and Mama too!
With thanksgiving in our hearts, we remain: Leatricia, Earliest, Valretha, Maggie, Norma, Michelle, Annette, Thelma and Juanita; and the grandchildren.
MR. WILLIAM WALLACE ANDREWS, III, M.D.
Funeral service for Mr. William Wallace ‘Billy’ Andrews, III, M.D. will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a. m. at Beu- lah Baptist Institutional Church, 1006 W. Cypress Street, Tampa, Florida, with Rev. W. James Favorite, offi- ciating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
"God saw that you were getting weary, and the hills were hard to climb. He gen- tly called you home and whispered, “peace be thine."
Dr. William "Billy" Wal- lace Andrews, III was born on Feb. 11, 1931 to the union of Cyril Blythe and Johna Belle Andrews. He was the younger child born to that union. He was educated in Hillsborough County schools, and graduated with honors from Middleton High School in 1947.
During his teen years, along with his older beloved brother, C. Blythe, Jr., they became the first African American Eagle Scouts in Florida.
He received his formal ed- ucation at Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama. There he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1951. He continued his ed- ucation at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Ten- nessee and earned a medical degree in 1955. He also served his country as a cap- tain in the Air Force. Follow- ing his time in the service, Dr. Andrews continued his residency in general surgery in Nashville, Tennessee at Hubbard Hospital and Ed- ward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. At that time, physicians were as- signed to several hospitals as opposed to one. In the sum- mer of 1964, he proudly opened his own office on
22nd Street in his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
During his time at Tal- ladega College, he met the love of his life and later mar- ried his college sweetheart, Nancy Butler Andrews. This union was blessed with 4 lovely daughters: Johna Belle, Lillian Denise, Willetta Michelle and Sharon Patri- cia. Dr. and Mrs. Andrews were married for 65 years. They worked hard to provide a nurturing and loving home for their children.
Dr. Billy served on many boards during his lifetime. He served on Meharry Med- ical College Board for several years and was “Alumnus of the Year”. He was the first African American Chairman of the Tampa Sports Author- ity. During his tenure, as Chairman, he helped to bring Tampa its first Super Bowl and oversaw the renovations to his beloved Rogers Park Golf Course.
He served as president of the Allied Medical Society, Tampa Branch of Florida Medical, Dental And Phar- maceutical Society. After in- tegration, the organization underwent a name change and became the Bay Area Medical Association. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was an officer of Grand Assembly of Lily Se- curity Benefit Association, Incorporated, which was headed by his beloved father. He was also a longtime Board member of Tampa Park Apartments, Inc. He re- ceived his spiritual nourish- ment at Beulah Baptist Church.
He was a very accom- plished golfer as evidenced by the many trophies that adorned his wall in his office. He once said "if only I had putted a little better". When the golf game declined, he gave up golf "cold turkey" and became an avid boater and in no time was recog- nized by his peers for his boating skills. He enjoyed taking his family and friends out on his boat, the CONSUL- TATION.
He was tireless in his serv- ice to the community and his practice.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his only sibling, C. Blythe Andrews, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy: his loving wife, Nancy Butler Andrews; 4 daugh-
ters, Johna Andrews Tread- well (Garold), Lillian An- drews Ponquinette, W.
