Woman Shot While Sleeping With 2 Children, Dies
The Pasco County Sher- iff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left an uniden- tified woman dead. She was shot while sleeping with two children in New Port Richey.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 12:40 a. m. Tuesday in the Menifee Ct. area. An uniden- tified man is said to have bro- ken into a home, and pointed a gun at an adult witness, be- fore moving on to a bedroom in which the victim was sleep- ing with two young children.
The suspect turned on a light in the room, which caused the victim to sit up. The suspect then shot the vic- tim once. The victim fell onto the floor after being shot, and the suspect shot her again.
The suspect then ran from the home, where it is believed that he got into a car. The vic- tim later died at a hospital.
At this point in the inves- tigation, the information gathered does not suggest that this was a random act. It appears that the suspect knew the layout of the home, and who his intended victim was.
He is described as a man with a heavy build, around 5’10”, wearing dark clothing and a black skull-type mask.
The investigation is con- tinuing and PSO urges those with information to submit tips to the PSO Crime Tips Line at 1-800-706- 2488 or online at PascoSher- iff.com/tips.
